Yes, and if we are following Leviticus to the T, lets us also kill bulls, wring the necks of pigeons, anoint the horns of our altars with blood, not drink before church (okay, maybe that one), not eat shellfish, separate women on their period, release goats into the wilderness, never ‘mar the corners of thy beard’, never get tattoos (Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you), kill people who curse their parents, kill adulterers, kill men who have sex with women on their period, stone folks who practice other religions, and let those who are different starve and suffer (Ch 21:18, 19, 20, 21). 

Sounds like fun!

Not to say that Leviticus doesn’t bring up a few poignant passages, (like the bit about gonorrhea), but even the passages on bestiality are ‘kill the person who did it, and then kill the animal’. It’s a little excessive, don’t you think? Yes, it IS in the Bible, but in the second half, Jesus died to relieve us of all the… ritual nonsense. Him dying was the ultimate sacrifice, it’s why he’s called the Lamb of God. Like I said, Leviticus has some interesting tidbits, and useful ones, (like incest, proven to make things go horribly wrong!) but I doubt, really doubt, that sex between consenting adults, be they the same gender, or opposite gender, really makes too much sense.

Back then, sure, if too many folks liked being with the same gender too much, there weren’t a whole lot of people back then, so the human race may have had some issues, but now, I hardly think it’s a real, viable concern to someone like God. Of course, I shouldn’t presume to know what He thinks, but there’s so many other things to worry about, or even think about. Don’t you think?
