ABC’s Dealing with Backlash over Chaz Bono’s DWS Appearance

Haters sippin' Haterade while Chaz is sippin' Absolut.

ABC’s message boards are getting flooded with negative comments over Chaz Bono’s selection for the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars, even though the season doesn’t air until September 19. Chaz just cannot catch a break here.

ABC has received more than 1,000 negative comments, and has even been accused of “pushing a homosexual agenda.” Because ABC has always been such a gay network, right?

This show has completely lost a viewer(s). I am DISGUSTED that you would have Chaz Bono on there. He/she can live however he/she would like to live, but do we need to flaunt it for ratings? Really? I hope your ratings sink as low as you have sunk in having Chaz on there.

Having someone on the show who happens to be transgender is “DISGUSTING?” Being open to any sort of contestant, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, is “sinking low?” By the way, it’s “he.”

It really upsets me that people still think this way. If there’s a homosexual agenda, as complaints claim, certainly there have been a ton of gay, lesbian or transgender contestants on the show, right?

“We don’t have an agenda of any sorts,” producer Conrad Green said. “I think of the 120 celebrities we’ve put on the show, we’ve had, I think now, three transgender or gay contestants. If that’s a homosexual agenda, we’re not doing very well at it.”

Oh. Further, the producers say all they want to do is reflect the diversity that’s found in the entertainment industry.

“What we try to do is reflect a broad range of the entertainment world in the casting of the show, and we’re always trying to find new things that people haven’t seen, new types of stories and that’s what we’ve been doing this season.”

So what would happen if we flooded ABC’s message boards with posts accusing them of a heterosexual agenda? Oh wait, we’d probably be overreacting and making a big deal out of nothing, right? See what I did there?

people target trans folks more because there isn’t as much push back. Even some gays don’t like trans folks which makes a super easy thing to hate. It’s not right. Transphobia needs as much attention as homophobia.

People need to get their “agendas” right. Chaz is trans…how is having him on the show promoting a HOMOSEXUAL agenda? The last I heard, Chaz is not gay. Regardless, ‘haters gon’ hate’. Is it right? No, of course not. But let’s face it-we’re not the most progressive country where the acceptance of those different from us is concerned, are we? In a place where our culture revolves around television, newspapers are written at a 4th grade reading level, and good looks are considered to be more desirable than intelligence, what can you really expect?

There is no such thing as a “transgender” person. You are born male or female and medical science CANNOT change anything but the most superficial of characteristics. If you were born male, you have X and Y chromosomes. If you were born female, as Chastity Bono was, you have only X chromosomes.
That has never been changed and can never be. What is created with these “sex change” operations is simply a disfigured, still-unhappy person.

I find “Chaz” Bono a pathetic and disgusting person. If she would lose some weight, she would be slightly more palatable to look at. I will never watch DWTS again. Besides, the show was getting too full of itself anyway. It’s only a soft core porn gymnastic competition, people.

I find you to be a pathetic and disgusting person. But Chaz is happy as a male, so I guess he at least has that over you. Honestly, gender identity goes much further than DNA. Science is great place for answers but they can’t all be found there; as most scientist agree.

What stupidity. Seriously. What does a person’s plumbing matter? I do not understand people having a problem with anyone’s sexuality. The Tea Baggers are far more offensive to me, with the hatred towards women, LGBT, minorities and anyone not a white GOP male.

This is just business as usual. DWS has already had transgender and gay contestants without fanfare. The only problem is that Chaz’s transgenderism is public knowledge. I will break down and watch DWS this one time…

I think that Christians should get of their high horse concerning sexuality (this coming from a gay Christian!) There is no gender identity in heaven. We are all spirits capable of love. How about showing Christian love instead of making gays think that everyone hates them? I’m going to watch the show for the first time regularly to support Chaz. People need to get over their own homosexual insecurities. It’s just love.

Some people need to get a life… I remember that sweet smile and eyes from Sonny & Cher’s show years ago… same smile, same eyes… somewhat different packaging… it amazes me how so many people have time to judge others, yet have no time to look at themselves for any potential flaws that need some attention…. people, regardless of colors, age, packaging, etc have so many many more similarities than differences… what could happen if we simply focused on the similarities and goodness for a change?

I normally don’t watch DWTS, but I will to root for Chaz!! I don’t know Chaz, but I love and support him as i would my own brother. I understand the hardship the trans community is going through, and I think not suporrting someone because they were born different than you is appauling. Way to go Nazi’s.
