Anti-Gay Bishop Caught Embezzling $300 MILLION From Parishioners

This is the face of someone who has $300 Million of stolen money up their butt.

Who Would Jesus Embezzle From?

Mostly Brazilians, if the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God is to be believed. After all, preaching the convoluted gospel that heaven waits only for those who contribute financially to the church meant big business for these guys. (If this salvation strategy sounds crazy to you, I strongly suggest you take an inventory of what your own church is preaching. Chances are, it’s the same thing.)

Bishop Edir Macedo and his financial director, Alba Maria Silva da Costa are named along with one other church official in the criminal embezzlement charges. Prosecutors have so far identified over $1.8 BILLION in donations over a three year period, which is especially interesting considering the good Bishop’s personal wealth is being estimated at $1.3 BILLION.

The charges, unveiled on Monday by São Paulo’s public prosecutor, relate to 404m reals (£150m) allegedly obtained from mostly impoverished churchgoers by leaders at Brazil’s Universal Church of the Kingdom of God.

The money was subsequently channelled out of the country via a network of offshore bank accounts and money changers, federal prosecutors claimed.

Snark aside, it’s worth noting that the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God’s preachers openly condemn homosexuals and African Brazilians. Which should help down the line. Perhaps the homosexual agenda will be blamed for the embezzlement?
