Wanted: Gay NY Residents Who Have Lost a Partner to HIV/AIDS

Help a reporter out.

We’ve been speaking recently with a freelance reporter for the New York Times who is searching for people to frame a piece he is working on around. We’re hoping that some of our readers fit the bill.

Straight from the reporter’s mouth (or fingertips, rather):

Basically, I’m looking for someone who may be feeling somewhat bittersweet about the new NY gay marriage law because of having lost a partner to the AIDS epidemic in the 80s and 90s. What I’m finding is that there are people out there who are either feeling left behind, or who lost life partners, and have moved on since, but still feel very bittersweet about this huge victory because of that loss. These people would have loved to marry their partners at the time, but could not, and never will.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, and you’d like to help the New York Times tell your love story to a world that needs to hear it, please contact us at [email protected] so we can put you two in touch.

I know you’re somewhere out there.

Smooch.
