Catholic Priest Relieved of Duties after Anti-Gay Sermons
In what must be one of only a handful of pro-gay moves from the Catholic Church, they have removed a priest from his duties after he gave numerous anti-gay sermons.
Father Donac Gionet, a priest from the Caraquet area of New Brunswick, Canada, has been barred from saying mass and administering the sacraments after giving anti-gay sermons the weekend of Moncton’s pride parade.
Sounds like a real charmer, eh? He apparently was splitting his religious community, with some supporting him while others felt “uncomfortable” with his sermons.
I’m actually kind of surprised that the church stepped in to remove this guy. Why don’t they step in and remove or denounce looney-tunes like this guy? Maybe take a page out of Ryan Renfrow’s book and pull a “he’s not here with us” or something, you know?
I guess this guy understood that his sermons were really offensive controversial, but he said that he didn’t feel like he was doing anything wrong. They never do though, amirite?
Isn’t there something in the Bible about “love thy neighbor?” Why don’t you preach that kind of stuff for a change?
Oh, he also expressed surprise at being relieved of his duties. Guess he never expected that higher-ups would get on his case about gay hate?
Maybe he should take a note from Pope Benedict: preach anything that’s anti-gay and THE higher-up will lay the smackdown on your ass with a freakin’ windstorm.
