Honduran Religious Leaders Attempt to Ban Ricky Martin from Entering Country
Ricky Martin and the case of the idiot clergy.
…and not because the wet, then not wet continuity in the She Bangs video from back in the day still haunts their dreams. *Makes no sense*
No, instead:
Madrid claims that the religious leaders particularly object to Martin’s non-traditional family. “His nuclear family is not the type of family that Honduran society, and laws, approve of.”
“His family doesn’t look like my family,” is it? We’d be shocked to learn that every single Honduran family is headed by a married man and woman, that grandparents, single parents, foster parents, and step-parents play absolutely no role in Honduras’ familial bonds.
The simultaneous demonizing of Martin’s sexuality, all the while white-washing it makes for a ridiculously boring case of offensive behavior on the clergy’s part. The problem here clearly boils down to weiners and butts. Just say so. They could at least do us all a favor and admit it so we could juice up our headline.
The “religious” defense, the bigotry of the leaders in question, the editing of Honduras’ diverse families – it’s all just so whatever. If you’re going to be a homophobe, at least do it with some panache.
