Gay African Man Beaten, Burned Alive by Angry Mob (Extremely Graphic Video)

I can’t click play on this video, the description is more than enough for me, but I will share this post with everyone I know and others I don’t. This is horrible!

KEEP THIS VIDEO UP!! This man died for being who he was, it would be WRONG of us to sweep it under the rug and act like it isn’t happening. You do wonderful work for awareness Unicorn. I cried for this man, and it strengthened my own drive to keep writing my officials and try to make the difference we deserve, what that poor man deserved. RIP.

I watched the whole thing and this is the kind of hatred that makes me want out of the “United States” not only because this is what our fight for freedom and equality is leading toward but the laws in this country especially in the south prevent me from even getting a job if i even act gay.

oh well apparently this was in Nigeria and this guy was killed because he stole (still no way to treat others. Behaving like that gives a very bad image of my Africa)… license plates format looks like the ones they use in Naija, so it is Nigeria.

I’ve shared this. I think that many in our own country do not realize what a tenuous grasp we have on the gay rights that we do have. We are votes away from religious fundamentalist groups like the Family (who foment this activity in Uganda) unleashing more of the same upon American soil. Although I am sure nice quiet ovens are more what they have in mind.
The GOP has become a Religious movement. That they are bent on our destruction is no secret. Consider Christian meddling in Uganda, a trial run. 

Jamaica comes very close for this kind of treatment of gay people. Machete attacks and cliff tossing are popular with the young lads. Don’t spend your tourist dollars there folks.

This practice is called “necklacing” and was used widely by the ANC against people they considered their opponents. Numerous footage of such incidents exist and it was practiced widely in South Africa during the years before the ANC took power.

Sadly, this is also a common practice against people considered “witches” in Africa. In South Africa alone some 300 people are murdered by mobs after being accused of being witches. This sort of violence is not uncommon and the widening violence in South Africa is why I left the country, where I had lived for a decade with my partner.

Given how widespread this practice was in the country you can NOT assume this was done because the man was gay, without further evidence. But since no seems to know where the footage came from, or who the victim is, this could well be a fraud. By that I mean that the claim it was over homosexuality may well be fraudulent. It could be older footage during the time before ANC control when ANC mobs killed like this rather often. It could be a mob attacking a “witch” as well. Without out evidence we don’t know and the crazy Right would love to later show this man was not gay and accuse gay sites of lying about it. Without more evidence we can only say this was a horrible crime against an unknown individual for unknown reasons. 

Oh my god, that is just horrible, seriously how can someone do that to someone. How can they live with themselves. That is just to horrible, I feel so sorry for that man. And seriously no one didn’t even attempt to stop them, but if someone probably did I think someone would attack them also. It just sad how this world is becoming. Torturing innocent people. I just feel sick.

I watched the entire video. I had to, I had to see. I know I’m lucky to live where I live. No mstter if this man was gay or a thief it does not matter. No person should be treated this way. No one coul react to save him either, your one person against an angry mob. What could two people do against an angry mob? It’s harsh and it isn’t right, but its the truth. Anyone who would have tried to help that man would have died with him. I..need time. I would ask to keep this video circulaqting. Show the world. As Humans we can’t treat each other like this.

THEY ARE GOING TO BURN IN HELL!

I am saddened that so many on this thread resorted to xenophobia and racism in their interpretations of this video. A suggestion from one commenter that we bomb the whole continent of Africa and a contention by another commenter that African people are “the least evolved humans” are only a few of the gems I read here. It should go without saying that ethnicity is NOT what makes people act like this, nor is it nationality. Anyone who thinks there is no combination of circumstances, social structure, and lack of resources that could bring this kind of atrocity to their own neighborhood is fooling themselves. I expected so much better from this blog’s following, which supposedly is all about equality and fighting discrimination.

How do you even know this poor man is gay, I mean gay or not gay this is shameful. Don’t waste precious time trying to figure his sexual orientation  use that time to stop this crimes wherever they’re happenning.
It’s a human being.

Has anything come of this video? I shared it often and no one has been able to source it. I can’t find additional info at all and no major news media even replied to my questions. This is disgusting. The world cares more about the Kardashians than this unknown man.

This is really sad and tragic, No room for fair trail or justice. Unfortunately the context of what is going on in this video is a misinterpretation, the man was getting burnt because he stole and not because he was accused of being gay. I am Nigerian and I understand every word that is been said. May God help us all.

I couldn’t watch the entire thing. Being burnt alive is a horrible way to die and no one deserves that. I am glad to live in the United States where this kinda thing doesn’t happen, or doesn’t happen often (Matthew Sheppard). I truly wish ppl would learn to accept that others are just a little different and leave them be. And it hurt none, do as ye will.

Who cares if you understand why he is being burned. Because hes an armed robber he deserves that… Your crazy?! No wonder Nigeria is a messed up place! All the people involved in that should be jailed. What a f*****d up system Nigeria has.. Its like going back in time to that dump! it is alarming how people can be! 
it does´t matter if he was gay or not, fact is he was killed at the street and nobody stopped this! where was the police?! and where the human intellect?! I can´t believe that this happened in years of smartphones and internet! stupid people they say “it is ok to kill a robber on a street” have to go in a jail! 

I have a feeling that this man was actually a thief and from the speech patterns I think it was Nigeria.  I’ve seen something like this in person while living in neighboring Niger.  If someone steals in the market there’s a mob mentality and they are usually beaten to death – but it isn’t something that occurs everywhere in Africa.

I don’t think it’s because he was gay because this approach doesn’t really fit with what I know about homophobia in Africa.  I have gay friends in Nigeria who are very open about their sexuality.  Yes, they deal with discrimination and threats, but they’ve never mentioned anything like this.

It is important to remember that mob mentalities exist because of social and political dynamics.  These same dynamics are what make it difficult for LGBTI persons living in Africa.  However, until we stop considering these perpetrators animals and start trying to understand why they feel the need to respond as they did, we won’t find solutions.

In the end, this video is repulsive and disturbing – I couldn’t watch the entire thing.  Nevertheless I commend Kevin for posting it and for being honest about the inconsistencies.  Complacent Westerners need to be brought out of their bubble once in a while so they can see the fruits of the world they’ve constructed.

I worked in Ferndale MI, which is a largely gay community. I was watching a 2 couples one night, 2 men and 2 women. Eventually they caught on to me watching them. I responded by saying: ‘I wish I had seen MY parents be kind and tender to each other like the 4 of you are. Real love and kindness seem to be getting harder to find now-a-days. I thanked them for their example and left.

This is the more reason the whole African should be turn to shreds and reacreate every tribe as a country because this is an evidence of hatred among black Africans. Strange! almost 99% of Africans beleive in God?. I am sorry to say that that continent is evil. Killings both politically and privately band even almost every and has blood thirsty behaviour in Africa: Agressiveness, selfishness, lack of insights on all official and unofficial grounds. If they like killing each other, why not let start also eating each other instead of leavinfg those corpse to decay and smell. Notice that Police is no where to be found. REAL JUNGLE!. If they are not killing each other on the street, they poison each other at parties or at ritual sacrifices or at religious riot. They loot their own money and bank them abroad where it is useless for them and their countries. African; A continent stagant in developement but advanced in primitive crimes. And if you tell them the truth, they become so agrressive for thier personal failure.

oh my god….thats hell……there is no reason to excuse or to support that. This video first surfaced in June 2011 and was reported as the man being an armed robber.  Regardless of the reason, the barbaric action of burning anyone alive is inhumane and unforgivable unless it is one of those who commit such heinous crimes.

My husband is Nigerian. He tells me the people are speaking Yoruba (one of the hundreds of languages spoken in Nigeria) and they are saying something about armed robbery. (My husband speaks some Yoruba but is Igbo himself.)

This is disgusting! I cant believe this can happen in this day and age and not one person did anything. I guess I cant be that shocked, this is the same place they rape babies and goats to get rid of their Aids.

These people are very uneducated and it’s Christianity that brought them to believe Gay people are “bad” and “evil”.

Some parts of Africa are still living in the dark ages

The culture in most of those countries allows people to do this.
It is only where female emancipation is allowed that gay people get the chance to emancipate too.
This is very wrong, but it happens everywhere.
 

These countries are indeed behind regarding human rights.
Where female emancipation starts, gay people will follow.
Female emancipation doesn’t exist or barely exists in countries like this.
It’s just the culture that starts, with not letting females emancipate, that allows people to commit such crimes.

My parents went through this kind of world in the Holocaust. My father only survived the torture because they thought he had information and tolerated his recovery after a cerebral hemorrhage from a beating.

My mother was able to hide while hearing about all her friends and family being murdered.

Millions of people were murdered.
Then came Cambodia and then Burundi.
It is very sad that so many people who say they are concerned about human rights abuses are not making a distinction for the worst cases like the one we see in this video.
Today we hear about these kinds of abuses in Syria, yet protesting Syria is not on the politically correct protest list.
