Friday Freakout: Bullies, Washing the Gay Away, and Skydiving Copulation
As the leaves slowly change colors outside of our window, the weeks slowly shift towards the long, bleak weeks of winter. And as this bleakness stares us in the face, this Friday Freakout reminds us that inspiration can come even in the darkest of circumstances.
Another gay teen took his own life this week. Jamie Hubley from Ottawa, Canada. He was 15, and in addition to suffering from anti-gay tormentors, he was being treated for depression. He wanted to be remembered as a unicorn, and that is how we will remember him.
Spirit Day was also this Thursday, with hundreds of media sites, companies and celebrities taking part in raising awareness against exactly these sorts of issues. Reach out and get help if you need it!
One person that most certainly needed help this week was Herman Cain, after suggesting in a Piers Morgan interview that being gay and black is different because gays aren’t born that way. He can’t wash off his black — suggesting that us gays can — and thus considers our “lifestyle” to be wrong. Whatever, dude.
Finally, a skydiving sex tape made the rounds – and reminded us how ludicrous it is that us gays still do not have full equality in this country.
