Kathy Griffin, and Why I Love Her
You might feel, after reading this, that this post is just a plug for Kathy Griffin and doesn’t serve any ends other than to tell you how great she is. You’d be right.
So let’s just get it out of the way right now: I love Kathy Griffin. She’s hilarious, doesn’t give a crap what anyone thinks, and she loves the gays. What’s not to like about her?
So this past weekend, I had a chance to see Kathy live (for the first time ever, I might add) in Cedar Falls, Iowa. And she killed it. It was everything I was expecting and more.
She riffed on everything from Michele Bachmann to the Real Housewives to Kim Kardashian. She also had a bit about Grindr, which was pretty legit.
She talked about how, with Grindr, you can put out a message that you want someone to put a lightbulb up your butt and get 14 responses in 20 seconds. She also mentioned how Grindr is a “head optional” situation because so many of the pics on the app are just torsos.
We’ve covered a lot of different things that Kathy’s done for the LGBT community on the site, lately the tweet (or twat, as Kathy would say) about Kim Kardashian’s divorce. Bottom line is that homegirl is hilarious.
Just check out her appearance on The View a while back:
Kathy: Actually, this moment is what I live for, so bring it.
LOVE. IT.
Before Kathy came on stage, she played a montage of clips of her various appearances and other clips from My Life on the D-List, her amazeballs TV show, and the Elisabeth Hasselbeck confrontation was one of my favorites.
To elaborate on the title of this post, that basically sums up why I can’t get enough of her. She’s a fierce LGBT ally, she doesn’t hold back, and she’s funny as hell.
Also, she’s buds with Anderson Cooper and Cher. I mean, do I need to explain how awesome that is?
If you guys ever have the chance, definitely go see her live. She’s touring right now, and trust me: You won’t be disappointed. If you can’t see her live, check out her show My Life on the D-List on Bravo, or her many stand-up specials that are aired on Bravo.
Kathy: Keep it up. We love it. Smooch!
