Historic! HIV Vaccine Approved for Human Clinical Trials

The vaccine, developed by researchers at the University of Western Ontario, has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to start being tested in humans in January.

It is the first preventive HIV vaccine approved for clinical trials to use a whole HIV-1 virus, which has been both killed and genetically engineered, to activate immunity. In this way, the new vaccine is much like the killed whole virus vaccines that are successful against polio, rabies and influenza.

Other HIV vaccines currently in clinical human trials have largely focused on one specific component of HIV to trigger an immune response. Right now, there is no effective HIV vaccine.

“FDA approval for human clinical trials is an extremely significant milestone for our vaccine, which has the potential to save the lives of millions of people around the world by preventing HIV infection,” said Dr. Chil-Yong Kang, professor of virology at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario, in a release.

The Canadian vaccine has yet to demonstrate any adverse side effects or risks to patients.

I wouldn’t be disappointed, but I would still get this vaccine and just still continue to use protection. Just makes you body 50% more effective against HIV

Vaccines are what cause many illnesses, not prevent them. Flu vaccines actually make you more succeptible to the flu. But keep trusting big pharma and your doctors that only see you as a profit.

The only reason the flu vaccine doesn’t always work is because the flu virus mutates so much. Same with the cold virus. Vaccines saved countless lives and continue to do so.

You clearly have next to no biological background and probably do not work in the medical field either. Vaccines do not CAUSE many illness. Flu vaccines do not CAUSE the flu or make you more susceptible. Devastating diseases such as smallpox and polio and been close to being irradiated because of vaccines. I suggest fact checking before you make any sort of accusation to the medical field. This vaccine is an historic achievement against the fight against HIV/AIDS. Instead of taking a pessimistic point from your OBVIOUS hate for the medical field. Look at it from a positive side against HIV/AIDS…

There are some vaccines that use live virus and some that use killed virus. This article clearly states that the virus in this vaccine is dead. How is a dead virus going to give you a disease? Think before you post.

I believe the term is “inoculation”, which is pretty much injecting someone with the virus. Inoculation, if developed properly, is completely safe and gets the job done since your white blood cells can effectively defeat an already dead virus, and know what it is before you get the REAL HIV.

Do your research before you post idiotic things.

This could be huge if it works. If Canada gets the vaccine before we in the U.S.A. do that’s going to also open a lot of eyes to our own lack of support for real research towards eradicating the virus instead of controlling the already infected for profit.

A vaccine is great news, but I still wonder why the cure that we do have is not as celebrated as this. There is a cure for AIDS and it’s very effective, the people who have taken it are no HIV/AIDS free and living a normal life. The cure is a natural blood cell mutation formed by the people who survived the bubonic plague in Europe during the middle ages, this mutation became more dominant because, of course, the survivors passed it on. When this mutation is injected to the body it makes the blood cells immune the virus and after the 90 somewhat days blood cells live the infected ones die and are recycled into the system effectively erasing the virus and the symptoms from the body. It’s ingenious and while I’m very happy a vaccine is potentially in the making I’m a little bewildered as to why this cure hasn’t been as widely spread as this news.
