Zach Wahls Beats Out Obama, Perry, Stewart in YouTube’s Top Political Video of 2011

Zach Wahls, the dreamy 19-year-old who became a household name after a video of him addressing an Iowa court about how he loves his two moms went viral – TWICE – has been given YouTube’s top video of the year honor.

With over 19 million views, Wahls beat out President Obama’s announcement of Osama bin Laden’s death, Rick Perry’s universally hated Strong ad. John Stewart’s sparring with Bill O’Reilly, and every single other political video uploaded to YouTube this year. Not bad for a guy not old enough to have ever voted in a presidential election before!

If I was his mom I wouldn’t even care about the outcome of the vote. The only thing I would remember about that day was how proud of my son I was. And I think he hits all the marks that are important. My family is not traditional, not by a long shot. But when the chips are down I always have one or two or three people that back me up. We may not be a family like you would define tradionally but we are so ingrained in eachothers life that I wouldn’t have it any other way and no government will ever have the right to define us.
