Rick Perry Wants To Be “the Tim Tebow of the Iowa Caucus”

You want to be a subpar football player that doesn’t accomplish anything but no one shuts up about? There are no fewer than 10 better quarterbacks in the NFL. Last week Drew Brees beat a 30-year-old record for most passing yards in a single season. Aaron Rodgers has led Green Bay through a near flawless season. Payton Manning, while he hasn’t played, has certainly proven his importance since without him the team apparently CAN’T play. And you’re going to compare yourself to the quarterback with a record of sometimes coming back from behind. So what you’re saying is you’re going to do absolutely nothing until your next election date (the proverbial end of the game). A good quarterback is CONSISTENTLY good. This is why we love Aaron Rodger, Drew Brees and Tom Brady. Because they’re quarterbacks who can play well the entire game, not just the last quarter so he can receive all these glory when you could just, y’know, not fall behind in the first place. So I guess now Perry can add “Doesn’t know anything about football” to his repertoire. If you’re going to compare yourself to a quarterback that isn’t really known for being good at football, at least pick one relevant to the state you’re lobbying. I double checked – Tebow isn’t from Iowa nor is any other Broncos player.
