Tho shot: A heterosexual couple is the target of a gay sniper on their wedding day, the result of same-sex marriage being legalized in North Carolina.

Did the North Carolina Family Policy Council somehow sleep through that time Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head after Sarah Palin put her in a rifle’s crosshairs?

Didn’t we come to the societal conclusion that crosshairs and gun imagery were a big no-no in political campaign materials? Did they not get the memo?

Also, what the hell is a gay sniper doing in the middle of a wheat field? (And what’s a gay sniper for that matter…)

Nobody who lives around here should be surprised by this rhetoric at all. I am 20 minutes from Charlotte. While the Queen City may be a larger city, it is still in an area of the country where the majority of people are enemies of all things queer.
