Ron Paul Doesn’t Want To Use Your Gay Bathroom

Don't worry, Ron. That's not how you catch it!

As if the Republican Party wasn’t already ripe with outdated and esoteric thinking (everything Michelle Bachman comes to mind), Ron Paul is now under question as a result of political and investment newsletters he published and solicited in the 80′s and 90′s. The Newsletters showcase racist and homophobic viewpoints, as well as conspiracy theories involving the Federal Government.

While this is not the first time the newsletters have been addressed in Paul’s many attempts at the White House, he has recently denied any involvement. “I didn’t write them, I disavow them. That’s it.” Paul stated during a recent CNN interview before making a swift exit.

A former staffer, Eric Dondero released a statement to Right Wing News (Because they love us gays so much) in defense of the Republican candidate, addressing the content and Paul’s attitudes towards the gay community. “He is not all bigoted towards homosexuals.” writes Dondero. “He supports their rights to do whatever they please in their private lives. He is however, personally uncomfortable around homosexuals, no different from a lot of older folks of his era.”

Dondero also describes an incident in San Francisco in 1988 where Paul was uncomfortable using the bathroom in the home of a gay supporter, “Ron pulled me aside the first time we went there, and specifically instructed me to find an excuse to excuse him to a local fast food restaurant so that he could use the bathroom. He told me very clearly, that although he liked Jim, he did not wish to use his bathroom facilities. I chided him a bit, but he sternly reacted, as he often did to me, Eric, just do what I say.”

Uh oh! I can’t wait to see how this all plays out. Someone should tell Ron Paul to double check next time he goes on the hunt for a gay-free public restrooms. I can find a few flaws in that logic.

Wow your headlines don’t match the article sir. I read this and all I got was he didn’t feel comfortable using the restroom of a gay supporter. And even then it wasn’t him who said it. He wasn’t looking for gay free public restrooms at all. is it maybe a slow day in news so something sensational had to be fabricated?

Tell me, if this article were about, say, Michelle Bachmann, literally just swap out the words “Ron Paul” for “Michelle Bachmann”, would you be so skeptical? Doubtful.

I tried it and yes. Though I am no fan of Bachman but nothing in this article is concrete. Fun excersise though the funniest one I found to be when you swap the name Barak Obama since it seems to be the most out of character. ^_^ edit: out of character as in unicorn booty trying to paint Obama in a homophobe or racist light.

It sounds to me like Ron Paul is indeed a man of his time. My dad- who supports equal rights for all, and has no personal animosity towards any gay person- was raised in a time a couple decades after Paul’s youth, and in those days, boys were told to run in the other direction if they ever met a man who was “that way”. These men just don’t know what to do now. Now, Paul has some issues, with the whole “Don’t wanna use the gay guy’s bathroom” thing, but I can see that that is where he’s coming from.

I grew up in the 90′s and most adults would still tell their kids gay people carried AIDs. Imagine the horror I felt when I started liking boys too. We have come a looooooong way and I am thankfull for that. And I would only vote republican if Ron Paul gets the primaries. ^_^

Also, Ron Paul never wrote nor authorized those newsletters. His ghost writer wrote, edited, and posted those newsletters all without authorization from Ron Paul. He believes nothing in those newsletters. In fact, out of all the Republican candidates, Ron Paul is the most open minded and most likely to bring about the change this nation needs. He’s the only man true to his convictions, and that’s very respectable, despite what misleading headlines and false newsletters say.

I don’t know how Ron Paul can deny things he’s clearly written. People say “No it’s his ghost writer – he didn’t authorize it”. What a coincidence. Like a child blaming it on his imaginary friend. It’s strange how much people who now hate Obama love Ron Paul even though they’re doing the exact same thing with him as they at one point with did Obama – brainlessly defending him despite his obvious flaws and trying to portray hi at this perfect guy knowing full well if he does take office he’s never going to fulfill those expectations and then you’re going to hate him twice as much.

I don’t hate Obama and I still support Ron Paul. Also what prevents anyone from writting something in someoone else’s name? If he says he didn’t write it then he didn’t write it why dwell on it. Meanwhile people like Perry and Bachman are saying stupid things on tv pretty much on a daily basis. That seems more concrete than “he won’t confirm he’s crazy so he must be a liar” logic that is being used to attack him.

Kindra, with all due respect, how do you know personally that Ron Paul “clearly” wrote those articles? Did you see him write them? Ron Paul has personally disavowed writing them, he said it was a mistake for publishing them in his newsletter, what more can he do? You might think this is bad, but what about the many many congress people, both Democrats and Republicans, who actually vote for more drug laws, expansion of prisons, and all the other laws that disproportionally affect people of color.

If Ron Paul is a racist, please explain Nelson Linder, Austin president of the NAACP, supporting him and saying in their 20 year friendship he has never heard him make a racist comment. Ron Paul has also spoken out against police repression of black communities and he is against mandatory sentencing which send people of color to prison for a long time for mostly non-violent (drug) infractions. You don’t see any other Republican candidate or Barack Obama standing up for this.

So if the writing of articles in the names of others is so common, why is it that we don’t hear about it more often? If this were one article I might believe you, but these are several different journals with many articles written by Ron Paul, all very close to his writing style.

Where so? All I remember is Ron Paul saying he would’ve voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Act because he values the rights of corporations over the rights of individual.

Kindra, I have a friend who ghostwrites medical columns for a doctor. He has no medical training. He is given a topic, he writes about it, emails it to the doctor who signs off on it and it is published under the doctors name, not the author. Believe me, in the world of freelance authorship, this happens EVERYDAY.

I’ve never heard Paul once say he values corporations over individuals. I have heard him say he believes business should have the right to decide who they do business with. I do not agree with him in this respect, but I have never heard him say he values corporate rights over the individual.

With all due respect (I say this because over the internet it is difficult to judge emotion) where do you get your information? A lot of it seems like half-truths found on MSNBC and FOX.

So let’s say this was his ghost writer. In that case it shows a severe lack of responsibility to sign off on those things. If he’s not going to read articles like these or even not the journal that it’s going too, I don’t know as I’d trust him running a country.

And that businesses should have the right to hire and refuse service based on race. Of course he wouldn’t say it, but his actions certainly express it. Rick Perry has never out and said “I am a homophobe” but that doesn’t change the fact that he is.

There is more than one kind of racism, and this includes racism where people may be friends with black people, may have no problem with black race. Ron Paul goes from “black people are usually criminals” noting the qualifier “usually” to “corporations have more a right to refuse service to black people than black people have the right to not be discriminated against”. I actually have more problem with the second one. His “racist” statements are just statements, he doesn’t seem like the type to go killing people for their race because of it. But his actions and things he’s SAID he plans to do regarding race is what scares me. The idea that he can’t support the Civil Rights Act because he thinks being denied the right to shop or work at a store for your race “doesn’t infringe on anyone’s rights” is absurd.

I don’t think he is racist or homophobic. I think it is a bit strange that for the longest time MSM told us all that Ron Paul was too much of a fringe candidate to win or be taken seriously and his supporters labeled as nuts. Now that he is coming in first place in many polls and he looks like he will take Iowa and New Hampshire, the ad hominem attacks are starting to come in full force. I don’t agree with his beliefs 100%, but he is the only choice out there if we do not want to bankrupt America building empire for Barack Obama and his bankster crony friends.

I think he is being criticized for something that happened more than 10 years ago. People change and a person should not be judged based on their past, but based on their present way of thinking and actions. If we were to judge people based on their past, Gandhi would be a very shitty person to pick as a pacifist, after all, he did try to get into the British Army to get rid of Africans living in India at the time.

He may have some personal issues with homosexuals, but so do a lot of people his age… Moreover he believes people should be able to have their rights though, and he’s one of the few (and the only forerunner) in the Republican party who wouldn’t be trying to amend the constitution or make a federal law to ban gay marriage.
