REAL Women Have Periods, Claims Tampon Commercial

"I'll see your boobs and raise you MY PERIOD."

“Transgender women can’t use tampons! Oh SNAP! That’ll teach you confused poseurs. Real women BLEED once a month, be-yotch!”

Tampon manufacturer Libra perhaps didn’t get the memo that post-menopausal, prepubescent and yes, transgender women also consider themselves “girls.” Which is to say nothing of the countless women in the world who have undergone various reproductive surgeries or traumas that may have left them without need for a Libra tampon each month.

Look, this commercial is hardly a guns-blazing war on trans women, so let’s please avoid condemning and threatening the creators here. But with that said, why? Why go to the trouble of putting this commercial together? Why make “real women have periods” your unsaid, but quite flagrant marketing slogan?

Exactly who does this endear toward your company? Women who have felt uncomfortable sharing a public bathroom with women from other walks of life? Is the bigoted demographic truly that sizeable or lucrative that it’s worth offending those of us in the world who have LGBT loved ones in our lives?

If I were to guess, I would say that this commercial was pitched and put together by an advertising agency helmed by straight, white men. The goal was something “edgy,” I’m sure. Well, in that respect they have succeeded. But they also produced an ugly little blight on this brand and heated debate.

From YouTube:

Im a young woman going through premature menopause and all I can say is if having a period is what makes me a woman, then I’ll make sure to punch Libra extra fucking hard in the face when I can no longer have one. Fuckers. TheDLCStar

TRANNIES CONFIRMED FOR ASSMAD AS HELL. cmoneynumbaone

Have a laugh at yourselves Trannies – Everyone else does!!!! crispynz1

I always wondered, why do trannies get to use the woman’s restroom? They have junk, even if it’s mutilated, so why do they go in the wrong restroom? Makes no sense. LordNaryuk

When the LGBT movement began forcing everyone to view them as a special “race,” they overreached! And now, you have a backlash! Your rights shouldn’t negate ours…as hard as you may try! I did not use to sound-off on these types of debates until I began to notice my rights began shrinking. revelision

I have periods, still not a fucking girl or a woman… seriously, didn’t realise that tampon manufacturers were the authority on gender now! 2e1hsb

so you are only a real woman if you bleed out your vag? some biologically-born women no longer have their periods either cos the plumbing down there no longer works, or if they are on the pill, so besides being transphobic, this ad is totally stupid. Also, what’s so great about being on the rag? I think most women hate it, and consider it to be one of the main things they hate about having lady parts. Chickengirl005

I can’t see any transphobic content.. Theres no transwoman in this spot – just a drag queen like me… and you can believe me that real drag queens will never be defeated by a girl with a Tampon *loool* …. i was so many times in exactly this situation… ok… without the tampon of course.. but i think it would be such a fun when it happens sometimes QueerlesqueMagazine
