Santorum: I Don’t Want to Make Black People’s Lives Better With Other People’s Money

Rick Santorum is making big waves today after vowing to invalidate ALL same-sex marriages performed in the United States if he is elected president. But let’s not let Santorum’s homophobia outshine his racism, please.

At a recent campaign stop, Santorum was filmed telling a room teeming with white supporters, “I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money. I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money and provide for themselves and their families.”

Say whaaat?!

First of all, white people on public assistance far outnumber black people. FACT. (In the interest of full disclosure, as a foster kid my very existence was reliant for a time on public assistance. And then once again as an unemployed person.) Second of all, who the heck asked you about black people? By all reports, Santorum was the one who brought “black people” into the conversation. He is now refusing to comment upon his racist answer.

But how about the anchorwoman matter-of-factly calling Rick Santorum out on his bigotry complete with awkward, intentional pause? “No stranger to poor taste and off-color comments, GOP hopeful Rick Santorum there made a comment in Iowa that some say is racist.”

Guys, this is a Wichita, Kansas CBS affiliate. We’re talking red, Bible belt, conservative, Republican – and even they have no tolerance for Santorum.

***Update: It looks like Rick has made a second stop on the racism train today. Watch in horror as Santorum says, “I find it almost remarkable for a black man to say, ‘No, we are gonna decide who are people and who are not people.’” The emphasis on “a black man” being his, and not mine. If I there were a way to designate someone’s head jerking forward in text, surely I would be noting that as well.

What is Santorum implying here – that black men aren’t fit to make decisions on personhood?

I disagree with pretty much all the “santorum” he spews, but I think this is because black people were only counted as 3/5 of a person.

as a black man, I sort of get what he was trying to say in the second clip. He needs to take a few classes on articulation though. He makes himself look like as asshat. Also, I kinda feel sick that I just defended him in a backhanded kind of way.

Yeah, I think he was trying to make a comparison between African slaves (people who were not treated like people under the US constitution) and fetuses. He did a horribly clumsy job of it and sounded super racist. Either way, it’s a dumb comparison. Did I defend him too? O.O

He doesn’t have the right to make that claim that Black people are getting, “Other peoples” money. What other people do you think the means? White people of corse. and last statistic I saw blacks were ranked among the highest numbers in the working poor. Also would he give white people that money? He’s opening up things he can’t back up.

Africa for the Africans,Asia for the Asians,white countries for EVERYBODY!

Everybody says there is this RACE problem. Everybody says this RACE problem will be solved when the third world pours into EVERY white country and ONLY into white countries.

The Netherlands and Belgium are just as crowded as Japan or Taiwan, but nobody says Japan or Taiwan will solve this RACE problem by bringing in millions of third worlders and quote assimilating unquote with them.

Everybody says the final solution to this RACE problem is for EVERY white country and ONLY white countries to “assimilate,” i.e., intermarry, with all those non-whites.

What if I said there was this RACE problem and this RACE problem would be solved only if hundreds of millions of non-blacks were brought into EVERY black country and ONLY into black countries?

How long would it take anyone to realize I’m not talking about a RACE problem. I am talking about the final solution to the BLACK problem?

And how long would it take any sane black man to notice this and what kind of psycho black man wouldn’t object to this?

But if I tell that obvious truth about the ongoing program of genocide against my race, the white race, Liberals and respectable conservatives agree I am a naziwhowantstokillsixmillionjews.

They say they are anti-racist. What they are is anti-white.

Santorum is an asshat….and if he said this about any race including his own he would still be an asshat….you know how you need a psych evaluation when joining the military or police academy…..i think the same should be done for politicians no matter race or political affiliations…especially if they are considering running for president…..lol….

He’s talking about abortion here. You can’t just take a sound bite and slap an article on it and call it a day. He’s saying he finds it ironic that a black man is willing to define what a person is, when blacks were the one being discriminated against 200 years ago. The second video wasn’t really racist at all, I think you took him out of context. All he was saying is that it seemed ironic to hear that kind of speech from a black man, i.e. somebody of an ethnicity that until recently was also excluded from the definition of personhood. It’s like saying, I can’t believe that black guy is being antisemetic — the irony is rife (in Santorum’s eyes). p.s. I’m black.
