Michele Bachmann Gets Served On ‘Meet The Press’

I have to tip my cap to David Gregory for his thorough questioning of Michele Bachman on ‘Meet The Press’ this past weekend.

Gregory plays some statements made by Congresswoman Bachmann and proceeds to ask her how her stance on gay marriage will translate to gay voters. I won’t spoil all the details but I got a little giddy watching Bachmann try to backtrack on her hurtful and damaging statements.

You can literally see her crap her pants around the 2:14 mark.

I’m a big David Gregory fan, more so now. He asks tough questions and doesn’t let people simply avoid answering the questions. Michele Bachmann may or may not believe some of the hate that she spews. She has to realize that there are consequences for taking her hardline stance against the LGBT community.

Jay Leno grilled Bachmann a few months back when she appeared on his show. We still aren’t sick of watching her get called out.

What do you think about Bachmann’s interview? Will her stance on LGBT issues ultimately be her undoing?

I would actually respect her if she would just come out and say what her views are instead of constantly stating that she is “running for the presidency of the United States.” I’ve heard that line around 10 times now when asked about this topic. She could at least have the decency to take a position and stand with it without talking in circles.

Whats funny is she knows that many ultra conservative voters wont vote for her because she is a female and they would rather have a man be president. The only chance she has is to get the conservative African American and Latino voters to go vote for her.

@Justin: She’s 12 give her a break. I know what she meant and I didn’t find her analogy the least bit offensive. For someone so young she makes a pretty sharp point. Rather than criticize her for her input you should be encouraging her to be more vocal and socially mindful. Kudos to you Rollergirl2012. isn’t it funny how one is always ready to jump to conclusions without reading and understanding what is going on first? The “leap before you look” syndrome doth run rampant! I don’t know if you know this, but Michelle Bachmann is much older than 12. Also – since when do you have to be gay for your opinion to matter? Since when do you have to be a minority to be able to speak your mind? Sounds like a bigot to me. Josh, I don’t think she gave up her seat in Congress to run for President… she’s has simply been AWOL from Congress since she announced that she was running… If I lived in WI, I’d demand that she return to Washington and start doing the job she’s been getting paid nearly $200K a year and hasn’t been doing.

On second thought, no, DON’T return to Washington…Just resign before the voters of WI FIRE your azz! If any one of us was AWOL for six months or more, we’d wouldn’t have a job to return to, let alone be getting paid for it while we were AWOL. This interview does not harm Bachmann’s chances for the GOP nomination. I still can’t tell where the American public stands on the issue of gay rights, but here’s what I think: for most Americans it’s way down on the list of priorities. As long as evangelicals are so passionate and fervent about the issue, and most Americans don’t prioritize equal rights for gays, the scales will continue to tip against equality.

Typical Christian. They think they can label everything and everyone because it’s what they learn in Church but then they can step back and say that they don’t judge. Clearly someone needs to give her a dictionary and help her understand what “judgement” means and give her some examples of judgmental statements (like playing a tape of almost anything she has ever said). Interesting that when asked about gay people, she reverts to the the safe place of “marriage is between a man and a woman”. Great, so you know what the current religious definition of marriage is. Good on you. That response is a cop out.

I find it sad that a politician espousing a hard line like Bachmann are really what divide us from being a country, to being a Great country. We are not great anymore, its like we are on our own. We have no appreciation for what we have as a society anymore, instead we are picking it apart. And it will continue as long as people keep throwing in their politics, their religious views. The Constitution is clear… there is no religious test that should be put into becoming the President of the United States and any politician that does…. in my view, is in violation of this principle. I find any politician that openly puts religion into the code of the running of this country is a prescription for disaster. It leads to people hating other people, much like Bachmann, Gingrich, Paul, Santorum and Perry have done. I think the GOP is a party of division not only among themselves but division amongst those that continue to want to use religion AGAINST what it was intended for.
