"Did your state legalize gay marriage before us?"

I finally relented and pressed play after seeing this video, titled Iowa Nice floating around political blogs this week. I had until now ignored it because, well, Iowa Nice.

Perhaps a better title would have been You Think You Know Something About Iowa? FUCK YOU!

Watch in delight as a potty-mouthed Iowan booksmarts you right quick on Iowa’s rich history of legal gay marriage, the invention of the computer, women’s rights, and agricultural science.

With all of the right wing politicking being pushed down our throats because of the Republican caucus going on, it’s easy to imagine Iowa as a fundie red state full of loony tunes.

Too Louis CK tryhard. His facts are also very disingenuous (what constitutes a “computer”, the fact that the judges who passed marriage equality were quickly ousted, etc…).

I’m not saying that discrimination against a state is a good thing – I’m just talking about him.

Stephanie, Kevin’s statement, “Watch in delight as a potty-mouthed Iowan booksmarts you right quick…” is, despite being a little slangy, correct both in grammar and in structure. Perhaps you were confused by his usage of “booksmarts” as a verb and not a noun?

And may I inquire as to where you learned that a compound sentence is somehow incorrect or poor writing?
