19-Year-Old Gay Trevor Project Intern Commits Suicide

He was so cute! >.< Hm.. I don't know how this stuff happens. Seek help people!

Poor guy, it is so sad that he felt suicide was the only option he had left. Call somebody if you need help. If not the Trevor Project call 1-800-273-TALK. It’s the national suicide hotline  or you could even call your local crisis center if you just want to talk. 

Also, I have to say, these “it gets better” things don’t work. At least not in my opinion. For me, a person who suffers from bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder, they seem like a good way to make a video diary and get your feelings out, yes – but they are MOSTLY depressing (sans the positive message at the end) and not doing what I think they were meant to.

I was called “dyke” from middle school on. And I didn’t even know what it meant. I consider myself pansexual and queer. And I am very in your face with any “offensive” word anyone could use against me. Believe it or not, if you take the power away from the words, they don’t hurt you any more. All you have to do is laugh in your head and ignore those bullies and just think how small they must feel to do that to you to make themselves feel better. Maybe you keep it in when you’re younger, but no word has power you don’t give it.

This is becoming an epidemic of mammoth proportions. The irony is that people think that just because we are now living in the 2012 that being gay isn’t like it used to be. That it’s cool because we have these gay icons like Elton John and Ellen, Ricky Martin and all of these other celebrities who have came out in recent years. The thing is: they’re celebrities. They can get away with a lot more than the average Joe. A gay teen living in some small mid-western town isn’t going to be as accepted as someone like Adam Lambert. He can walk around wearing make-up and being openly gay because of who he is…a rock star. He has millions of fans around the world compared to the 15 teenage boy living in a town of 4,500 who feels like he is all alone. 

The whole “it gets better” thing is lame. It gets better is like saying “just say no to drugs” it too is lame. Kids feel pressure to fit in and be like everyone else, being LGBT makes you feel not the same. I suggest educating more kids on the LGBT experience and having support. 
Education is important to things like suicide prevention. 

Explain that two men or women can love each other, or that their are people who feel born in the wrong body. It should be taught as mandatory in all schools. 

The problem I see with a lot of people on here and other places, is they seem scared to enforce a positive change. They will say things like oh its a privet school, so they should not have to allow HIV+ students. By schools making statements like that it fuels the hate of a minority and enforces negative attitudes towards a minority. 

It is very sad this man took his life. Until LGBT people get “MAD” this crap will keep happening. I don’t know where this passive attitude many people have comes from. ——Things never would have gotten better with race relations if people did not stand up and say enough. ~They did not say any of the Bullshite, Oh we don’t want to infringe on the white majorities rights or white people will lose freedom because minorities have the equal rights.

Its a battle for equality, and this man was a soldier lost to the fight. I am thankful to him and the others that try to help. May he rest in peace and find contentment in his next life! 

May all people who have felt this desperate find peace and contentment in their next life.

I am sad for this man, but something else needs to be brought up that we ignore with a passion, the gay community itself and its responsibility for suicide.  Many gays kill themselves not because of treatment of some redneck but of other gays, from cyber bullying which we have become great at, to social isolation to the endless dating sights where if your not young or hung your completely ignored and left to be alone and not allowed in the fun peoples world, your always kicked to the outside but we never talk about our faults we have become like the black community never seeing fault in ourselves.
