Brave Adam Levine Gives Up Beloved Homophobic Tacos for Gay Marriage
Adam Levine’s stalwart support of the LGBT community and our ongoing fight for equality truly knows no bounds. When homeboy isn’t busy fronting Maroon 5 or participating in the It Gets Better Project, he takes the gay rights fight to where it really matters: Mexican restaurants.
Maroon 5 is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the upcoming awards ceremony, but will be looking for a new place to get their party on after the big event. Levine told People magazine, “We used to go to this Mexican restaurant to celebrate after the Grammys but the place supported the movement to make gay marriage illegal [in California] so we bailed on that.”
Levine has a long history of using the power of his celebrity to draw attention to the issue of gay rights. The singer, whose brother is openly gay, has lent his famous face to publicize the It Gets Better campaign in support of troubled LGBT youth and the Prop 8 opposition campaign NOH8.
The commenters thread on the AOL Music Blog identify the taqueria in question as El Coyote on Beverly Boulevard in LA, in case you’re wondering.
It’s been a big week for sexy LGBT allies in the news, wouldn’t you agree? Heck, it’s even been a big week here for tacos!
In all seriousness though, big thanks to Adam for his support of our community and continued reluctance to wear shirts. Smooch.
