What a spectacularly juvenile and poorly written song and surreal performance. I understand Madonna required ‘reintroduction’ to a modern and young audience less familiar with her, but this is not how to do it. It was interesting seeing a Madonna that really has aged and hasn’t opted for bleeding edge medical technology to hold on to a facade of youth – to see her pull off a close approximation of a teen cheerleader for this song (likely with makeup and digital enhancement).

Not too long ago when Lady Gaga released “Born this way” – it was common to criticize the song as ‘theft’ from Madonna because the song is similar in genre and pop hooks to some of Madonna’s past hits. This poor new Madonna single puts a lie to that notion. It’s Gaga that performs Madonna better than Madonna and who has songs the are not just better melodically, but actually have themes and meaning suited for performance by a person with maturity.

I don’t understand why everyone is so up in arms about this video and song. I think it’s really fun, and as far as Minaj and M.I.A. are concerned, Minaj herself is often times very bubbly and whimsical without losing any of her edge, so why should this hurt her in any way? I daresay any other female hip-hop artist wouldn’t have jumped at the chance to work with Madonna.

As far as Madonna herself, I’m a true fan of her as an artist. I have no doubt the album will be as outstanding as her previous works. I do not feel that she is trying to appear too young in this video whatsoever. Did we all forget that she is performing at the Super Bowl halftime show? This is merely a tool to promote it as far as I’m concerned. She is no cheerleader. She is the quarterback leading the team, with M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj cheering her on.

“Every record sounds the same…” Yes indeed. And this is no exception. Ho hum.

I was annoyed seeing M.I.A. dressing up as a cheerleader and then as Marilyn Monroe. It’s as if they didn’t want M.I.A. to be herself. What rubbish! Anyways, she’s gonna release a new video soon for her song “Bad Girls” which was on her mixtape before the release of ///Y/ Can’t wait!!!!

This song is really, really boring. It sounds so generic, sounds like something Rebecca Black would sing.

O.o Wow…people get really bitchy over the littlest things.

Anywhoo, am I the only one that was kinda creeped out by the masks on those cheerleaders? Nicki seemed to fit right into the video, but M.I.A. just looked pissed the whole time (though I think maybe she was going for sultry?). Meh, I was kinda unconsciously kicking my feet to the beat, but I haven’t decided yet if I like it. 

Grain of salt people… grain. of. salt. It is just bubble gum for the superbowl. No big woof. We all know that Madonna is NOT an opera singer and she is not going to start singing torch songs. She likes to move and shake and I have to commend her for doing it. Makes me want to move and shake as well!

I’ve never been that into Madonna, (being the over-hyped self-aggrandising product she is) – and have always been rather apathetic to her “music”. 

But this is just AWFUL. I’m not “meh”…… I’m “uggggh!”. Revolting. Tacky. Gross. This song is just nonsense, and how Madonna conducts herself is disgusting.

Seriously… Madonna you need to age gracefully and bow from the stage. You’re an attention seeking narcissist who is unwilling to accept her time has come and gone.

A great example is how she refers to the gay following around GaGa…. She tries to just call it “young gays” who are following GaGa… You know, because Madonna is totally unwilling to accept that all artists must fade from the spotlight and needs to remind us that some old queens in their fifties still like her.

Pfffffft.

Madonna is like fine wine, she only gets better with age.
