Rabbi Yehuha Levin: Spiritual leader, Total jerk.

New York’s Rabbi Yehuda Levin makes the case that chemically castrating or sterilizing yourself if preferable to acting upon one’s homosexuality.

“I have tremendous sympathy for those challenged by temptations and unkosher desires. As you do with cancer, you never stop trying to find a better treatment to cure yourself. If all therapies fail, as a last resort you use chemicals to stop the urge to act in a forbidden manner. (This resolution is ordered by European courts for offenders and it works.) Unpleasant, surely; but better than committing adultery, homosexuality or incest.”

Rabbi, rabbi, rabbi…the only thing your belief that chemical castration is preferable to gay sex tells us is that you’ve been having all of your gay sex the wrong way.

As bad as the rabbi is, you don’t have to drag stereotypes into this; I’m talking to you, people. I don’t see, from the quoted text, any mention of “oi vey” or anything else. There are non-orthodox who are pro-gay; don’t degenerate the entire Jewish community by using stereotypical language that implies they are easily surprised or uneducated. A girl at my school is a good example of this. She is entirely fine with me, and I live in the most conservative city in Michigan.
