Professional Poker Player Comes Out in V-Day Blog Post
Love is in the air this week and coming out is on the mind, apparently. Yesterday Jason Somerville came clean about why he has such an amazing P-p-p-p-pokerface: he is gay! In his blog post Jason talks about the lack of openly gay players and touches on some interesting topics including his struggle to conceal his homosexuality to his friends, family and peers in the professional poker world.
Somerville, now 25, began the process of coming out to his closest friends and family members at the age of 22, nearly 3 years after leaving college to pursue his dream of becoming a professional poker player.
After his blog post yesterday, Jason took to twitter to make a few jokes about his big coming out party.
Jason’s struggles over the years are all too familiar for members of the LGBTQ community and it is exciting to have another out and proud member out there. Oh, and sorry boys, Jason wraps up his blog by sharing that he is in an amazing relationship.
What do you think about Jason’s big news? Any World Series of Poker fans out there?
