Iowa Proposes Bill to Jail Abortion Providers for Life without Parole

Iowa state Rep. Kim Pearson has introduced a bill that would completely change the climate of women’s health in America, by outright banning abortion.

Doctors who assist women in their reproductive choices by performing abortions are to be arrested and imprisoned under the new law, where they will serve mandatory life sentences with zero chance of parole.

The bill makes “attempted feticide,” where the fetus does not die, a Class B felony, punishable by 25 years in prison. Iowans can even be punished for helping someone else perform an abortion, as, “joint criminal conduct shall apply to persons knowingly participating or concerned in the commission of feticide or attempted feticide under this section.”

Right, because a bill like this doesn’t go against the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe vs. Wade or anything…

yeah but what happens when it goes to scotus and they take another look at roe v. wade with the more conservative panel they have now… They know all of these laws go against Roe v. Wade, but thats the point, they made them to try to take down Row v. Wade by finding a way to challenge it again…

I agree with you but it seems like they are charging you with not completing an abortion, “attempted feticide.” So, its possible that this bill is worded in a way that it does not disagree with roe v wade… but yeah, id have to read them both and its pretty ridiculous.

It’s both completed and “uncompleted” abortions (whatever the hell an “incomplete abortion” is).

This stuff upsets me so much. Why do they think it’s okay to throw these doctors in prison among murderers, rapists, and other perpetrators of violent crimes? Don’t they know that they will be practically eaten alive by the other inmates?
