Russia: Don’t Go There, Girl! I am NOT the One (Video)

From All Out’s YouTube page:

Lawmakers in Russia just passed a draconian censorship law that would impose stiff fines for anything construed as “the promotion of homosexuality” in Saint Petersburg, Russia’s second largest city. Reading, writing, speaking or reporting on anything related to gay, lesbian bi or trans (LGBT) people would become a criminal act.

This ban on “promotion” would also target Pride parades, literature, theater, or NGOs that openly serve LGBT people.

We told you about the law a few weeks back. Police are now authorized under the law in St. Petersburg to hand out $100 fines to anyone who who appears to be openly homosexual – whatever the hell that means.

Does Russophile Johnny Weir appear to be openly homosexual? How about Bravo executive Andy Cohen? International rugby star Gareth Thomas? Would a St. Petersburg stop on an Adam Lambert world tour be interrupted by police?

This law opens more than a few dangerous cans of worms (Seriously, those rims are sharp!). We’re proud to see the international community stand up to this insane-balls law in such a creative manner. Props to All Out for raising the bar of the dialogue on this.
