says that the E-Mail was political. How many politicians do you know
named Barrack?

If you change the black/white part of it, where exactly does the joke lie then? What joke is going to start with a little boy asking his mom why he’s white and she is also white? How does that make sense? The entire basis of the “humor” lies in calling the President a half-breed.

Amen to that. 

Spin.  Preposterous spin.  The allegation that he forwarded a patently offensive racist, misogynist, sexist, vulgar, despicable and hurtful “joke” scandalizing the President of the United States’ mother as someone who had a stoned orgy with men and animals alike, and do it as a SUBTLE reference to an arcane spin-room, wishful-thinking tactic, is absurd.
“The Barking Dog Syndrome” is just Monday Morning Quarterbacking regenerated as would-be self-fulfilling prophecy.  The “Barking Dog Syndrome” claims that when people start complaining about a president in his first term, it is a sign that they sense his inevitable failure.But that’s ludicrous.  Because anybody who doesn’t complain about something in a presidency is a brainwashed patsy.  We all saw our fill of them on the Republican side in George W. Bush’s first term, as they were sure he wasn’t about to lie his way into war with Iraq, as they supported his tax cuts on the grounds they would be stimulative to the economy, as they supported his Medicare Part D—the largest entitlement program expansion in history—and m-a-n-y other things.”But,” they say, “look at all the one-term presidents about whom I can show you this is true!  So then it must be true about the current president in his first term.”  But that’s fallacious reasoning, specious logic.  Because I can show you just as many presidents who won re-election about whom this was true as well, yet did not play out as their supposed maxim would have you believe.  So it’s not a maxim, it’s a canard.We don’t have to go into ancient history.  The last three two-term presidents are perfect examples.  Richard M. Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton.Nixon had been elected on a promise to end the Vietnam war.  He quickly reversed himself to escalate the war with a surge of troops, creating some of the deadliest days of that war and a major credibility gap.  The Pentagon Papers were published.  Nixon ordered that the duly elected Marxist leader Salvador Allende of Chile should be prevented from taking office there, and people were suggesting that Nixon’s CIA had assassinated the Chilean army leader General Rene Schneider—an assassination that virtually assured Allende would be weak against the regrouped military.  (When a military coup followed, Allende was killed and many believe Nixon’s CIA was the culprit.  The leader of the coup, of course, was the murderous dictator Augusto Pinochet.)  The first reports of Watergate were arising during his reelection campaign, among vast amounts of other “barking” which ultimately resulted in his resigning in disgrace.  There were not one but two recessions in Nixon’s first term, and a major energy crisis when gas prices shot through the roof and caused shortages and massive lines at the pump.  Inflation rose steadily to historic and alarming levels under his economic policies.  He imposed wage and price controls and ended the convertability of the dollar to gold—v-e-r-y bad stuff if you’re a conservative who believes in free markets or a libertarian who believes in smaller government.  They were only a temporary measure and had only a temporary effect; soon after lifting them, he had to reimpose them in his second term, but to no avail—inflation continued to go skyward and proved a problem for the next three presidents.  He cut NASA funding and ended the Moon program.  Meanwhile, farmers were destroying crops and drowning chickens rather than sell them at a loss, and there were food shortages; along with the gas crisis, the shortages were a return of Depression- and war-era rationing.  And bigoted conservatives were furious at his creation of the first affirmative action plan and his endorsement of the women’s Equal Right Amendment to the constitution.  BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK!Reagan, who had promised tax cuts would quickly fix the economy, had reversed himself and actually begun raising taxes—higher as a percent of GDP than Bill Clinton would later do; unemployment had grown steadily since Jimmy Carter left office and was at a higher rate in Reagan’s third year than at any time during Obama’s presidency; people were shocked at the one-two punch of our troops being gunned down in Beirut, Lebanon—from which Reagan cut and ran—and his order only days later of a wag-the-dog invasion of the tiny island of Grenada; they laughed at his Laffer curve and, in the words of his own Vice President, his “Voodoo economics”; they were troubled at his acquiescence to the Communist Chinese demands that he stop selling arms to Taiwan (we later found he had no problem sending arms to Iran).  BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK!Clinton, of course, was on the verge of impeachment for covering up an affair during an investigation of other matters.  Some in his base felt the jury was out on how good for the country his welfare reforms would turn out to be, and liberals criticized him for fumbling health care, worsening the situation for gays in the military, and other issues.  Conspiracy theories abounded and allegations of other marital infidelities were regular tabloid news.  As he started campaigning for reelection, with the specter of Newt Gingrich heading the House, it was clear that he was moving toward the center, which frustrated and dismayed progressives.  BARK BARK BARK WOOF!All three were reelected.  In fact, Reagan and Nixon won in landslides and Reagan and Clinton managed to leave a legacy that is often burnished by members of their respective parties as exemplary—Reagan for the myth that he “ended the Cold War” and Clinton for creating 22 million jobs and a budget surplus for four years running, and keeping the country safe during the attempted Millennium terror attacks.  And, for that matter, history looks kindly on many of the massively flawed Nixon’s better policies, for example establishing the EPA and the OSHA, and visiting China in a show of friendship.

No, the “Barking Dog Syndrome” is a myth people in the minority party like to tell themselves, and no, this was not an example of someone making reference to that.  Incidentally, have you noticed how few Democrats are up in arms against anything the president has done lately?  Have you noticed how solidly they are against every pathetic, anachronistic candidate in the Republican field? Have you noticed how turnout in Republican primaries this year is less than it was when he was running the first time around?  They’re LESS eager to get him out now than they were four years ago.  And are we all better off now than we were four years ago?  Four years ago, nobody would yet admit we were already in a recession that was growing steadily worse, and were only just starting to admit we might have been in a housing bubble fueled by predatory lending practices, fraudulent underwriting, catastrophic overleveraging, ratings agencies in bed with the industries they regulated, and underfunded regulators with one hand tied behind their back.  Ask us after September 15, which will be the four-year anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Brothers.  Just because you don’t find out you’re pregnant until your second month doesn’t mean you can start counting nine months from THEN, you have to recognize you were pregnant when you didn’t know it.

I’d say your attempt at spin is less the “Barking Dog Syndrome” than Arthur Conan Doyle’s dog that didn’t bark, but rather peed on Judge Judy’s leg and told her it was raining.

Think a little deeper, Ariel.  Read it again, and dissect it just a tiny bit.   It’s racist to the core.
