The UK’s Daily Mail is running a story this morning featuring what has to be one of the best run-on headlines of all time.

“Revealed: Barack Obama’s gay transgender prostitute nanny who made him laugh by trying on his mother’s lipstick”

What a revelation, indeed!

Barack Obama’s former nanny has been revealed to be a gay transgender man living on the streets of a slum and in constant fear for her life.

‘Evie’ cared for the future President she called ‘Barry’ when his mother Ann Dunham moved to the Indonesian capital of Jakarta in the late 1960s.

The openly gay man, who believes he is really a woman, said she would make Obama laugh by trying on his mother’s lipstick.

But she was careful not to let him see her dressed in women’s clothes – even though she often left the house at night in full drag.

Evie’s life story is fascinating and heartbreaking, even if editorialized out the wazoo.

I hope Barack helps her (with his own resources), but no one will make it easy for him to do so, I’m sure. I imagine the heartless opponents on the right will say that he is abusing his power to help an insane pervert. If so, I hope that moderates add such a vile (but rather predictable) attack to the list of inhuman horrors spewed by these people who don’t even have the right to call themselves conservatives. They are heartless fascists. Perhaps this will even become a teaching moment for tolerance and kindness. I only hope so.

If that’s the case then we have to yell very loudly in support for him to drown out their negitivity. A true measure of character is if someone will do the right thing even when it might be seen as wrong. But another measure of character is if you will stand by someone when they make that choice and defend them against their apponents.

I cannot begin to describe how much this broke my heart when I read it on another site. We forget how much better at times we have it than some other less fortunate people in other parts of the world. People like Evie, do not deserve what they get for just wanting to be who they are, I wish there was some way I could help people like her.
Sadly, I doubt Obama will do anything, having a former trans nanny who resorted to prostitution to sustain herself is not something that would advance his political career.

The yahoo article on it was much better. It was the first time I seen Yahoo refer to a trans-woman as the proper gender. It was sympathetic rather than condemning.
