Haters Gonna Hate: We Hate Statistics!

Hello all you beautiful readers! I’d like to take a second to introduce you to a new weekly column appearing on Unicorn Booty, written by yours truly.

It’s called Haters Gonna Hate, and it’s your one-stop shop for the most tantalizing tidbits from the most outspoken opponents of everything LGBT.

Each week, I’ll give some interesting bits of info from the week and share them in a completely serious, unfunny tone.

And by that, I mean I’m basically sharing them with you so we can all get a good laugh at the expense of those organizations “fighting the good fight” to keep us second-class citizens. Without further adieu, let’s get to it!

  • According to the National Organization for Marriage’s blog, 70% of UK residents polled support “traditional” marriage, and 84% feel children “do best” with a mom and a dad

Well, since the study was conducted by the UK Christian Institute, and there’s no readily available information (sample size, questions asked, etc. You know, stuff reputable organizations would include), I went digging.

Apparently, the UK Christian Institute sampled just over 2,000 adults in the UK, which obviously constitutes a demographic that can represent 62+ million people. Also, the UK Christian Institute mentions that respondents generally reacted favorably in terms of giving same-sex couples legal rights, so NOM’s blog post pretty much holds no water.

But how could it not with such convincing, masterfully-crafted pie charts such as these?

national organization for marriage sham poll, american family association wants to support kirk cameron, american family association wants to stop gay marriage thats already happened, afa nom haters gonna hatenational organization for marriage sham poll, american family association wants to support kirk cameron, american family association wants to stop gay marriage thats already happened, afa nom haters gonna hate

That’s literally all there is to them. They sorta just hang out on the blog page near the text. Good work, NOM.

  • Everyone is encouraged to support Kirk Cameron and his stand, because he’s just that cool and right.

According to the American Family Association, Kirk Cameron has come under “hateful pressure” from homosexuals for “simply stating God’s view that marriage is between one man and one woman.” Poor Cameron was “repeatedly badgered by the host to share his views on homosexuality.” He also stated that “homosexuality is ‘socially destructive,’ ‘unnatural,’ ‘detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.’”

This is the part of the newsletter where they ask you for your support of Cameron, after they literally just quoted how he said homosexuality was destructive, etc. etc. Way to subtlety reveal your true nature, AFA (as though anyone needed you to reveal it).

What’s funny is that they go on to say that GLAAD is a “social bully.” In what world do you get to call someone “destructive, detrimental and unnatural,” only to have them be the bullies for standing up for themselves?

  • AFA has pledged to support Marriage Protection Amendments in Washington state, North Carolina and Maryland.

Uh… sorry guys, but you’ve already kind of failed in your “keep gays from getting married” campaign (evidence: Maryland, Washington. North Carolina will come around, it’s inevitable.) Guess the AFA didn’t get the memo. But donate to help them make amendments to these newly passed (and too late to change?) laws, and you can get a ton of stuff!

With your donation of just $20, I will send you Miracles Are For Real. In this book / 2-Hour DVD combo, Pastor and teacher Dr. Jim Garlow and writer Keith Wall carefully examine biblical teaching about miracles and provide honest, trustworthy information that will boost your faith.

Hot dang, trustworthy information? I’ll keep my $20, just to be safe…

What do you guys think of this week’s set of crusades? Any other hot messes you’d like us to keep tabs on? Let us know!
