GOP Assails Robert De Niro For ‘White First Lady’ Joke

Apparently Republicans are the only ones allowed to make racially charged jokes.
Robert De Niro hosted a fundraiser for Barack Obama Monday night in New York at which current First Lady Michelle Obama was in attendance.
Goodfella De Niro made a wisecrack at the expense of wannabe presidential candidates’ wives Callista Gingrich, Karen Santorum and Anne Romney saying, “Do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?”
For those of you wondering, there have been 45 First Ladies and 44 of them have been white.
Mr. Whitey McWhiterson, Newt Gingrich took offense to the comments by Mr. De Niro demanding an apology from Barack Obama and telling reporters at a campaign stop in Louisiana, “I think that Robert De Niro’s wrong. The country is ready for a new first lady, and he doesn’t have to describe it in racial terms.”
Just a reminder Newt, you are a member of the party which has famously toed the line with inter-party communications about the President, comparing him to a primate (totally not racist, by the way), and even threatening to punch him in the face (totally acceptable method of conflict resolution).
So shame on you Robert De Niro for bringing race into this political conversation, which until this point has remained pure and free of hate speech and playing the race card. Thank you Newt for always keeping it classy and setting a standard for honorable political practices.
