Maggie Gallagher on NOM Race-Baiting Scandal: I Haven’t Stopped Beating My Wife

Yeah… they want to bait people into calling them bigots, but of course, that strategy doesn’t work if they admit that’s what they’re doing. Watching her back-peddle on that is hilariously transparent. She’s never exerted so much physical energy in her life. Obviously. You also gotta love how she keeps trying to position NOM as some little-guy grassroots organization, while Karger cites the tens of millions of dollars they’ve amassed and spent (and failed to properly report) in their short four years since they were founded, quickly becoming the leading face of the anti-equality movement in the United States. If she’s such the little guy, what’s she doing touring the national media to spout her anti-equality spin for the last three years? 

I guess it’s important to point out that the “wife-beating” comment was Maggie’s attempt to avoid a complex question (a question that assumes something about the person being interrogated; whether you answer “yes” or “no” to “Have you stopped beating your wife?” the implication is that you are at least guilty for having beaten your wife).  I suppose the implication the anchor was getting across was that Maggie was race-baiting in the first place, the question being whether Maggie continues to defend her position.  Maggie wants to deny she was ever race-baiting, as in, she “never beat her wife.”  Of course, she’s playing herself off as all innocent now.  I just thought I’d clarify.
