Principal Removes Student from Competition for Predicting Legalization of Gay Marriage
One boy’s dreams of winning the world renowned Mr. Fullerton competition at Fullerton High School were brought to a screeching halt after an assistant principal booted him from the competition (and violated his constitutional rights) for supporting marriage equality.
He was removed from the school’s Mr. Fullerton competition Tuesday night for answering a question of where he saw himself in 10 years.
The student said he hoped to find the love of his life, marry him and hoped gay marriage would be legal.
After the answer, an assistant principal took the student from the Plummer Auditorium stage and disqualified him from the competition.
OK, so Mr. Fullerton may not rank among other prestigious honors like an Academy Award or Nobel Peace Prize – you’ve got us there. Still, this student should have been applauded for his self-assured bravery by school administrators, and certainly not admonished.
After 200 classmates organized a letter-writing protest, the school’s
evil headmaster assistant principal apologized to students over the loudspeaker.
Ugh. Grownups just don’t understand.
