Anne Rice Wishes Happy Easter to Gay People of the World

Anne Rice sends her love.

LGBT Advocate, world famous author, and New Orleans royalty Anne Rice celebrated Easter yesterday the only way she knew how – by cheering on the gay people of the world.

Rice, who’s son Christopher is gay himself, wrote on Facebook to her half a million followers:

Happy Easter, Gay People of the World: you have indeed risen in the last few decades from centuries of persecution and oppression. May this be a great holiday for you all wherever you are. You are winning the battle for equal rights. And your victory over discrimination and hate is a victory for all oppressed persons. Happy Easter!

I’m a day behind on this, as my MacBook Air was propelled by a gust of tech-killer wind into my kitchen sink on Friday. When I told him my tragic story, Steven from AppleCare said, “I guess that’s why we call it the MacBook Air!” I responded with a solid 8 seconds of silence before offering a curt, “That’s not funny, Steven.”

Though, everyone I’ve told the story to has disagreed with me. I guess it’s easier to laugh when it’s not your $1700 mistake.

That reminds me of when I worked at Nintendo, and a mom said that she had the TV and game console set up in the kitchen, and while her son was playing Mario Kart 64, during his body english, manged to yank the system into a soapy bucket of water. My first question was “Why did you have a bucket of water under the TV?”

That really sucks about the laptop though.

Well-wished?

Since when is wishing us a ‘good’ CHRISTIAN holiday, that was stolen from a Pagan one, ‘good’ for gays people?

Not every Christian is a homophobe, you know. Not all of them agree
that the King James and derivative translations are correct (there’s a
lot of ambiguity that the fundies try to deny the existence of), and –
wait for it, I know this is gonna blow your mind – there are actually
gay Christians! And yes, Easter and Christmas are essentially Pagan
holidays rebranded by the ancient church, who wished to win over the
Pagan masses. To a modern Christian, however, they’re just the traditional day for
celebrating certain events important to their faith (and to many a non-Christian, they’re Happy Chocolate Day and Happy Turkey And Presents Day, respectively) – none of which
stops Pagans celebrating our similarly timed holidays. The religious
extremists (of any faith, or lack of) are certainly very unpleasant,
bigoted people – but we’re hardly going to make any allies in rational,
not hateful people of faith by painting them all as the enemy, are we?
