Ted Nugent: I Will Either Be Dead Or In Jail If Obama Re-Elected In 2012

Why wait a year Ted?

It looks like Mr. Nugent will be getting a visit from the Secret Service after comments made at the National Rifle Association conference last weekend. Nugent, an outspoken advocate of gun rights said “If Barack Obama becomes the President in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”

Sensing the pending uphill battle to defeat President Obama this November, Republicans have turned up the rhetoric aimed at the President. Just last week Foster Freiss came under fire for saying he hoped Obama’s “teleprompters are bulletproof”.

Unlike Mr. Freiss’ comments, which were never investigated, Mr. Nugent will be spending some time speaking with members of the U.S. Secret Service before he performs in Oklahoma tomorrow evening.

Do you think Ted Nugent’s comments are threatening against the President? Should charges be pursued against him? If jokes about bodily harm against Sarah Palin were being made, would people continue to simply write them off ‘tough talk‘? Where do we draw the line with this kind of speech?

I Support the second amendment as well as open carry and such, but I think (along with most others like me) that this guy is nuts.

I think the Secret Service should investigate every instance of someone threatening to hurt the President, even if it’s only to confirm that it’s a joke made in poor taste. Nugent might not be serious, but there is some fervent conservative out there who is seeing Nugent’s comments as approval for attacking Obama.

You can think whatever you want about the current president, but you don’t have the right to call for violence, even if you’re “joking.”

I don’t know if it’s widely known, but there was near miss on Obama’s life during the inauguration. Forgive me on the vaguenessm I’m pulling this from memory. A battered wife turned herself in after she killed her Nazi supporting husband. When the police investigated the house the found a hot bomb in the garage or basement there was a map showing where the president would be taking the oath of office. So I think any threat should be taken very seriously. How many people heard this guy make some statement about the president and just figured he was a blow hard?

Being black, having the social views he has, and having the father he has he’s a prime target for all hate groups in the US. These people are a danger to the US and I wouldn’t risk his life, at the very least we can’t be the country who’s first minority president is assassinated.
