Stephen King Eviscerates Mitt Romney for Being Un-Fucking-American

Stephen King grabbed our full attention when he talked dousing rich dicks in lighter fluid and dancing to Disco Inferno, and he held it straight through his scathing critique of Mitt Romney’s entitlement whining.

I guess some of this mad right-wing love comes from the idea that in America, anyone can become a Rich Guy if he just works hard and saves his pennies. Mitt Romney has said, in effect, “I’m rich and I don’t apologize for it.” Nobody wants you to, Mitt. What some of us want—those who aren’t blinded by a lot of bullshit persiflage thrown up to mask the idea that rich folks want to keep their damn money—is for you to acknowledge that you couldn’t have made it in America without America. That you were fortunate enough to be born in a country where upward mobility is possible (a subject upon which Barack Obama can speak with the authority of experience), but where the channels making such upward mobility possible are being increasingly clogged. That it’s not fair to ask the middle class to assume a disproportionate amount of the tax burden. Not fair? It’s un-fucking-American is what it is.

I don’t want you to apologize for being rich; I want you to acknowledge that in America, we all should have to pay our fair share. That our civics classes never taught us that being American means that—sorry, kiddies—you’re on your own. That those who have received much must be obligated to pay—not to give, not to “cut a check and shut up,” in Governor Christie’s words, but to pay—in the same proportion. That’s called stepping up and not whining about it. That’s called patriotism, a word the Tea Partiers love to throw around as long as it doesn’t cost their beloved rich folks any money.

Romney has paid hid fair share. There are tax forms proving such. In fact , he has also given more to charity than any other president or potential president in recent memory. He also paid his taxes on time, unlike Warren Buffet who still is quibbling over a 1 billion dollar tax bill. I applaud mr king for his right to say what he did. I just wish he had his facts right. All he needed to do was a public records search to learn the truth as I have.

He actually has given most of his charity money to the Mormon church or to the Tyler Charitable Fund in Boston which gives a high number of its donations to the Mormon church or to other conservative groups. He also has given his money to political support that is technically considered ‘charity’ but will obviously come back and help him. Basically funding his future.

So though his intentions might be good or positive, I still feel that his taxes should be higher cause there isn’t a ‘trickle down effect’ happening from him. Make him and others pay their fair share so I can pay off my $120,000 of college loans WHILE living a life.

Actually people like Warren Buffet and Willie Nelson refuse to pay their taxes because there is NO LAW saying that you have to. Especially since the IRS is not run by the government, all our money goes into a big piggy bank. Whenever they want to start a war or need money to promote a bill favoring the eradication of squirrels on the Pentagons lawn, they just reach in and take it. That is what the IRS is for. Before you come back at me – look it up. I don’t like conversing with uninformed individuals.

He doesn’t mean “pay as much as the federal government says you have to pay.” He means “pay in proportion to how much you’ve been blessed in life.” Amazingly, the top tax bracket was at least 70 percent back during the fifties boom years and WOW, we had boom years anyway.

It would help if apologists for economic parasites–and I do NOT mean welfare recipients here–would take the trouble and time to learn more about how our tax system works. No one’s asking to take 70 percent of Romney’s entire paycheck. Personally, I want the higher tax BRACKETS (look it up, you have Google just like I do) to be taxed at those higher rates AND for all earned income to be taxed exactly the same. Capital gains should count the same as wages. Period.

Its funny. I live in a European country. One of the only ones left with a solid economy (Germany), and we look around at everyone elses governments and just say “Wow, those people are idiots”. I mean, we’re basically running Greece right now. Britain, France, and Italy have gone down the shitter, and Russia IS the shitter right now. But, you have to realize, only idiots would WANT to run those countries right now. There’s so much stress associated with running a country with a shit economy. What the world needs, now more than ever, is a leader, someone who would be able to walk into the U.N, and start running it, even dictating it. Its all the UN countries that have gone down, anyone not UN either has never been up, or is doing ok. Even if it means abandoning current governments, making a world government, its time to start thinking of the people in general, and not the poeple in power.
