State of Gay Marriage in the United States (Infographic)

The Pew Center on the States has published a gorgeous infographic outlining the current condition of gay marriage laws here in the United States. Though we’ve published infographics like this one before, this shot lays out the lay of the law in the land as it stands today.

The Christian Coalition had a busy year in 2004, when they rolled in to Missouri from Colorado telling lies and submitting an amendment written to sound like you were voting to not have gay marriage OR to have gay marriage…which was NOT the case. You were voting to make marriage a man/woman only institution or nothing any different from a man/woman only institution AND the good christians wrote the amendment backwards so a yes vote was a no and a no vote was a yes.
Good Colorado christians used lies and slight of hand to push their agenda onto the Missouri people, which up to that point hadn’t given *gay marriage* any thought at all.
Good christians, lying scheme running good christians.

The sad thing is that ultimately even though some of these states do allow same-sex marriage, there are no federal benefits. So while you have the paper, you are denied many of the federal benefits. Someone with a foreign same-sex partner pretty much has no way to get a green card for their partner to live in the US indefinitely. So there’s still a long uphill struggle.

before the 80′s and into the early 80′s we were still being arrested for being in a gay bars we were rounded up and hauled off to jail and or ticketed as if we were criminals and perverts . So we can continue this fight onto the Federal level. and remember all our fallen friends and family that have given there lives just by living..

Plain and simple We need to make the change happen. Not rely on everyone else to do it for us. As the voices stand together and strengthen they will be heard.
