Jay-Z Comes Out in Support of Gay Marriage
“I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple…I think it’s the right thing to do, so whether it costs him votes or not – again, it’s not about votes. Real talk, this is huge. Adair aside (if you haven’t seen his Gay is OK rap, go watch it right now), we can’t think of any big names in hip hop who have come out in support of marriage equality.
NOM and those on the wrong side of history like to paint the African American community in broad strokes as being intolerant of same-sex marriage. Jay-Z speaking openly about the necessity for equality will go a long, long way in dissolving that accusation.
