Jenna Talackova Named Miss Congeniality in Miss Universe Canada Pageant
She may not have won the crown in the Miss Universe Canada pageant, but Jenna Talackova sure came damn close and was even named Miss Congeniality.
The 6-foot-1 blonde bombshell was a crowd favorite as she strutted down the runway in the evening gown and swimwear portions of the competition.
Talackova also seemed to be a favorite among her fellow contestants and was one of four women voted “Miss Congeniality.”
There’s been a lot of talk in the press about Jenna standing head and shoulders above the other girls because she is 6’1″. I’d like to add that it wasn’t just her height that elevated her.
I’ve had the absolute pleasure of getting to know Jenna a bit over the course of the past few months. From her initial acceptance into the pageant to her subsequent dismissal for being transgender and then back into the competition again, Jenna has handled herself with poise, respect and grace. There’s a reason millions of people across the world perked up when she was denied her spot in the Miss Universe Canada pageant. It’s because Jenna Talackova is a beautiful woman, inside and out.
Not to knock any of the other girls, but Jenna faced an international media blitz and a degree of scrutiny the other women will never experience in their lives. Her body, her past, her gender identity and sexual orientation – all of these topics and pieces of Jenna were made available for dissection and criticism when she entered this competition. Where most people would crumble, Jenna Talackova excelled and succeeded.
Not that anybody needs further proof, but the fact that she finished this competition having been named Miss Congeniality ties quite the ribbon on her story. The whole world fell in love with this girl. Why should her fellow competitors have been any exception?
Jenna, we love you and we know we haven’t seen the last of you. Your future is bright, girl! Keep up the good work.
