Madonna’s Born This Way/She’s Not Me Cover is the Bitchiest Thing We’ve Ever Heard

Leaked audio from Madonna’s 2012 world tour reveals that the Material Girl still has a trick or two up her sleeve. A cover of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way mashed-up with Express Yourself plays upon the controversy Gaga endured surrounding the similarity of the two tracks.

But Madge’s segue from the BTW/EY performance into She’s Not Me escalates the tiff into atomic “reductive” fallout.

This means war! Or at least it would mean war if we honestly thought that Lady Gaga cared at all. Because really all that has happened here is that Madonna has just invited the press to harangue her at every single opportunity for the next six months about the rivalry, imagined or otherwise.

Madonna, by way of this extremely bitchy jab, has revealed her insecurity. She can do her She’s Not Me thang all she wants, but the fact of the matter is that women who don’t feel threatened or intimidated don’t literally tour the world trash-talking their competition.

There’s blood in the water now. And you know the sharks will be all over that!

I just think of Madonna as full on Norma Desmond “I used to be a STAR!”. She just reeks of insecurity, and while we are on topic, since when did walking around in a leotard and throwing those same old dance shapes constitute ‘evolution’? I think it’s hilarious. Lady Gaga doesn’t have an original bone in her body. I’m so sick of the comparisons, too. Lady Gaga has NOT unseated Madonna as the “Queen Of Pop” unless and until it’s the year 2038 and she’s still filling arenas around the globe and selling millions of albums, like Madonna is 30 years into her career.

Sorry, but I find Lady Gaga’s in your face copy-catting much more crass than Madonna’s 45 second swipe at Gaga during a concert performance.

I’m sorry, If someone copied my style after building a 30 year career for myself I’d be glad someone gets it. I don’t think this effects the Little Monster fan-base at all… who it really hurts is Gaga. She looked up to Madonna her entire life, and now to have her making fun of her? I hope she is strong enough for this, it is truly heartbreaking.

Heartbreaking? Hardly. I’m sure Lady Gaga and all her people will be just fine. And if she was so worried about the potential backlash, perhaps she should have played her cards better and not made the headlining track off her album sound like a huge Madonna hit from way back in the day. There’s no arguing the similarities in the track. Hell, just watch the video. It’s QUITE evident. It’s one thing to emulate, and it’s quite another thing to essentially plagiarize the sound. And looking up to Madonna her whole life should definitely have prepared her for people LIKE Madonna. Not everybody is going to kiss your bedazzled ass in show-biz. Certainly not Madonna.

I think it’s hilarious. I think Madonna is hilarious. I think if Madonna wants to call people out on basically writing new lyrics to her music, she has every right to. I don’t think it reeks of insecurity so much as she’s just didn’t let it slide. What I’m so interested to know is why nobody made a bigger deal out of Gaga riding Madonna’s song into notoriety. . . The back-track does sound unbelievably similar. Almost the whole way through. And lets be honest, Madonna has always and will always find some way to strike up controversy. It’s pretty much her thing. And it’s what’s made her rich and famous.

I’m not saying it’s the same thing. The two songs in comparison are actually drum-samples present on TONS of keyboards. I even had my boyfriend call it up on his old Yamaha. Gaga’s entire SONG sounds like Express Yourself. I still think Madonna and co should have been a LITTLE more creative over that ghastly-simple drum sample. . . but she didn’t rip riffs and chord progressions off…
