Sweden Drafts Legislation to Ban Men from Peeing While Standing

Some folks in Sweden are drafting up plans to rob men of the single most rewarding gift of their anatomy.

Men who work for the Sörmland County Council in central Sweden should sit down rather than stand up when urinating in office toilets, according to a motion put forward by the local Left Party chapter.

The Left Party in Sörmland is taking a stand to ensure men take a seat when emptying their bladders in the county council’s own toilets.

Whyyyy? Why are you doing this to ~~meeeee~~ my innocent Swedish brothers?!

One reason has to do with hygiene and a desire to ensure that no one who uses the toilets at the county council’s offices will be required to walk through puddles or residue left by stray urine which happens to splash out of the bowl and onto the floor when male employees pee standing up.

The Left Party also cites medical research it claims shows that men empty their bladders more efficiently when they are seated.

The improved bladder evacuation not only reduces the risk for prostate problems, according to the party, but also helps men who sit rather than stand achieve a longer and healthier sex life, the local Folket newspaper reported.

*Makes skeptical face*

Fellas, would you abstain from standing in the bathroom if it meant a more robust sex life?

….I’m not sure why any government would spend their time and money on telling people how they can go to the bathroom…but then…I don’t understand why any government would spend their time and money telling people who they should spend their life with either so maybe government is just something I’m not meant to understand.

Can we get that in this country too? Along with legislation asking women to actually SIT on the darn toilet instead of hovering over it? Maybe then public restrooms would be less terrible for everyone.

I have sat down to urinate and “other” things all my life! Might have come from being raised with 3 older sisters and no male role model in my life, blah, blah, blah. I enjoy the “rest” that comes from sitting. Besides, it gives time for the others things like what Eric mentioned. Its called multitasking. It’s not uncommon in Dutch country as well. In places they require you to sit while you pee, its just hygienic. And I applaud them for doing so cos if men refuse to pick the toilet seat up, they have no business peeing in the first place. Would you want to sit in someone else’s piss??? Uh-uh I didn’t think so!

I can understand promoting this based on the health and hygiene stuff, but to make it a law seems a bit extreme. If hygiene is such a huge issue, maybe they could just hire another janitor?

A. It’s nice to know that other countries besides the U.S. has time for really absurd legislation that takes up the time and money of taxpayers’ employees.

sitting down to pee does not mean that there will be no mess. my best friends husband is proof of this. on his toilet there is a stripe of piss down the front. She got so feed up with cleaning it that she told him that he would have to clean the bathroom from than on. thats how i found out about it he would not clean it up.

I can understand now why most men prefer to stand. My dad would occasionally complain about small seats on toilets and how it was uncomfortable to tuck your junk in when you sit. I had no idea what he was talking about. Now I do. If I had a temperature sensitive appendage, mysophobe that I am, the last place I would want it swinging would be INSIDE a cold toilet. What if it was stopped up and you didn’t notice before sitting? I think I’d just fall over and die.

I will always squat. I know you can’t catch much, (certainly not herpes) from a toilet seat, and urine is probably the least likely body fluid to carry pathogens, due to acidity. But my mom always harped on squatting, and to this day, I can’t bring myself to sit on a public toilet.
I think we should do like the Japanese do, no public sitting toilets! Squatting toilets only! (Funnily enough, this guy is wearing a hat too.)
