Thousands of Infants at Risk of Herpes Infection from Penis Blood-Sucking Vampire Rabbis
"(Don't) blow me."
New York City health officials are pushing a proposed regulation that would require parents to sign a consent waiver before they take part in a circumcision ritual called “metzitzah b’peh,” typically practiced by ultra-Orthodox Jews. The ritual potentially poses a fatal risk to newborns, according to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
The legislation was proposed at a Board of Health meeting last month by Dr. Jay K. Varma, deputy commissioner for disease control for New York City’s health department, after 11 infants contracted neonatal herpes between November 2000 and December 2011, after the circumcision ritual. Two of the infants died.
We’ve written about this bizarre ritual before after an infant boy died from a herpes infection transmitted to him from the priest who…ahem…sucked his bloody penis during the boy’s circumcision.
And while priest-on-infant fellatio, vampirism, and infant mortality are all headline grabbing in their own right, let’s also not forget that it’s not just these baby boys who are being exposed to herpes. These children will grow up with an incurable sexually transmitted infection coursing through their veins, potentially exposing every single one of their sex partners to the virus when they reach adulthood.
But before they even reach sexual maturity, herpes infections will be spread on the playground, during ice cream parties, and via kids just being kids.
The ultra-Orthodox rabbis practicing this deadly ritual are putting everybody at risk, not just the helpless tots…ahem…in their mouths.
So yes, by all means, let’s please put a stop to this ridiculous hazard. How is this even up for debate?
