Throw Your ‘Hands In The Air’ With Timbaland and Ne-Yo (Video)
I currently call Seattle, Washington home, which is not always ideal for an up-and-coming pop star (more on that soon). I’m practically up to my ears in grunge and crybaby indie, but dance-friendly pop music is sometimes hard to come. We have the incomparable Lisa Dank, but I still feel overwhelmed by dudes who think Kurt Cobain is going to come back from the dead. That combined with the less-than-ideal summer weather inspired me to take a much-needed trip to LA, the land of delicious, dance-friendly pop.
Every time I visit LA or New York, I see billboards for movies that receive little to no promotion in Seattle. This time, Hollywood is littered with posters for the latest installment in the “Step Up” series, “Step Up: Revolution.” I’ll admit, I’ve never actually seen one of these movies, but I decided to investigate the soundtrack after spending some time in a proper LA dance studio. Dancers and pop music, it all goes hand in hand, right?
I was instantly drawn to the Timbaland and Ne-Yo collaboration, “Hands In The Air.” As a long time Timbaland fan, I’m excited to hear his signature production once again. The addition of Ne-Yo makes for a winning combination. In true “Step Up” fashion, the video features some pretty sick dancing. I’m completely sold.
My only critique is the slight resemblance to Destiny’s Child’s “Independent Women Part 2”, but I’ll let that slide because the video is so amazing.
Does “Hands In The Air” make you want to “step up” and dance in the streets? If so, I’ll see you there. If not, let’s hear why.
