We’re in love with artist Randall Munroe’s clever United Shapes of America map.

I was born in the Old Man, and grew up mostly in the Encyclopedia and the Elephant before attending college in the Wikipedia Page and the Boot. Hurricane Katrina displaced me to the Whale for a few years, but now I’ve moved Unicorn Booty back to the Boot to open my restaurant, Booty’s.

Using only the “shape” names, share the story of where you’ve lived with us all in the comments.

I was born in Missouri. Growing up we moved around a lot, so I spent at least a year in the Eggplant, the Upside-down Gangster, the Vacuum Cleaner, the Train, and the Snowballs. As an adult I have lived in the Train, Missouri, and the Wikipedia Page. Now I live in the Train and I love it!

PA is the top (or bottom) of a book. I find that much cleverer and easier to decode than whatever the hell RI is (a train car?), where I was born and raised and from where I recently moved to said book. I’ve also lived in the Ol’ Timey Vacuum Cleaner, the Ol’ Timer, even, and the Well-Endowed Dog.

Well I started out my journey being birthed in a big field of eggplants, far as the eye could see. It was a simple life, if pictures can be believed. Eventually the time came when my ma and pa decided it was time for a change of scenery, so we packed up our lives and moved to the Commonwealth of Stegosaurus. I spent the majority of my cognitive years living in the mind, occasionally traveling through the back of the beast, trying to get to know myself and where I would be from. When the time came to be a young adult, the “man” bribed me with some scholarship money and I moved to the “Second City” in the Land of Gangsters. I’ve been here for about six years now and I must say that despite the corruption, the average joe’s here are a very warm, pleasant, and hearty people. We don’t take kindly to being bothered for change or pressured into voting for your brother, but we’ll gladly give you directions to where your headed which undoubtedly will lead to us suggesting the best places to eat and visit. I plan on spending most of my adult life here in the hustle of bustle of wheeling and dealing. That being said, I sincerely hope to make enough money to retire in the “Easter Isles” with a sweet tea in one hand and fresh peach in the other, swinging in a hammock till my dying day.

All I know is that even though I really didn’t like where I was born and grew up, my state has by far the most AWESOME picture associated with it. A bear with a JETPACK and a LASER pistol? Seriously? It’s probably the only good thing about the state!
