The Country’s Hottest Football Player is ‘Cool’ With You Being Gay

Rob Gronkowski said he would be “cool” playing football with a gay teammate, adding his tolerance to the list of reasons why we love this guy.

The list includes the following:

  1. His abs.
  2. His position as “Tight End” for the New England Patriots.

OK, so it’s a short list. What can I say?

In an interview at the ESPYs with OutSports, Gronkowski was at first hesitant to talk about having gay teammates. He’s already been called out in the media for shirtless partying, pictures with pornstars, and racy nudies on ESPN’s Body Issue, and said he was worried about starting more drama for his team.

I say they’re just more reasons to love Gronkowski on top of what he told OutSports:

“If that’s how they are, that’s how they are,” Gronkowski said. “I mean, we’re teammates so, as long as he’s being a good teammate and being respectful and everything, that’s cool.”

A good friend of mine recently commented on the homophobia that permeates the sports world, and while Gronkowski’s response could have sounded more genuine or more confident, I’m glad I can add “Gronk” to the list of ways that’s changing.
