George Zimmerman: No regrets

Alleged child molester and oh yeah, stone cold killer of a teenager, George Zimmerman sat down with ~~the good folks at~~ Fox News to clear a couple things up about this sullied reputation.

Like how God wanted him to kill Trayvon Martin! Had any of us bothered to check with God’s publicist, we would have learned that Zimmerman gunning down that child was all part of the lord’s plan. Whoops!

Real talk, when even Sean Hannity is squeeming in his seat over your obnoxiously unrepentant answers, it is probably best to back the truck up and come at the country with a new line of talk. Not even all of the softballing in the world from the Fox News team could get Zimmerman to admit to a single regret about the evening he murdered a child. Not one regret!

And that’s why we are thrilled to announce that you, George Zimmerman, are officially the World’s Worst Person.

I wouldn’t take his words “It was all God’s plan” out of context as “God wanted him to kill Trayvon”. There’s a million things that can refer to “God’s plan”. And if God exists and he does have a plan, it is important for people to die in our world. Otherwise how could we ever appreciate anything that we are given. (I’m not a christian fellow, btw.”

Mitchell – “God’s plan” or not, you don’t think Zimmerman could have found a SHRED of humanity in his answers? Like “I feel terrible about how things happened” or “I’m so sorry for the pain I’ve caused”? The fact that he lays it all at God’s feet and daintily wipes his hands clean (“sorry, it was God’s plan! not my place to second-guess it!”) may satisfy you but that sounds like an answer only a monster (or psychopath) could offer with a straight face… like he does.

Not that I have any empathy for this man at all, but I also don’t like it when the media cuts out bits and pieces to make it sound worse than it is. Now, while this sounds like a cop out apology, he did say, “I do wish there was something, anything I could have done that wouldn’t have put me in the position where I had to take his life. I want to tell everyone, my wife, my family, my parents, grandmother, the Martins, the city of Sanford and America: I’m sorry that this happened. I’m truly sorry.”

But there was something he could have done, he could have listened when dispatch told him not to follow Trayvon Martin. He could have simply stayed in his vehicle and let the police come and take care of things.

He chose instead to ignore all of the advice by the dispatcher and be the “cop” he always wanted to be.

The thing is, Brian, no one put Zimmerman in a “position”. No one forced him to do anything. Not even God.
He was exactly where HE chose to be at that exact moment in time and HE needs to take responsibility for that fact.

That’s bananas town! You murdered a teenage boy who was going places. You cut off potential. I can understand feeling regret about it but being determined to move on with your life and try to make up for what you did by becoming a better person, but just casting it off as ‘god did it’?
