Video Game Superstars Electronic Arts Tells DOMA to SUCK IT

Electronic Arts, makers of Madden, SimCity, Need for Speed, EA Sports and a buttload of other fantastic timesucks, announced this week that they would like the (unconstitutional) Defense of Marriage Act to go ahead and suck it.

Electronic Arts has joined with dozens of leading US employers in signing an amicus brief that opposes the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and urges the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to find portions of the Act unconstitutional.

DOMA presents a number of problems for businesses like EA, as it creates regulatory, tax, and discrimination complications for employers, and that’s why we’re standing against it. The underlying lawsuit impacts all employers no matter how big or small, and no matter the industry, and we encourage other business to join these efforts.

I’m not a gamer myself, as I seem genetically unable to remind myself to eat, sleep and make those dollah dollah bills when even the suggestion of a video game is placed before me, but I’m still able to recognize that this is fantastic news.

I love EA games! I’ve been playing them for awhile. My favorite is Sims though. I usually play a lesbian family. They get married, adopt kids and do everything that the other sims in the games do.

Article aside, I’m a little bothered by the
use of the phrase SUCK IT. I happen to love sucking cock, as does most of the
gay male community, so why do we perpetuate the idea that sucking dick is
degrading and insulting. And sure, you could say the phrase suck it in this
context means something different, but that’s the same argument people make
when gay people complain about someone calling something gay or queer. I find
it kind of embarrassing that a community that is seeking to find
inclusiveness and respect in language often uses language to degrade and subtly
harm its own people.

EA is pretty good. As an avid Sims player (more like addict), I was overjoyed to see they treat same sex relationships as equal to straight ones in the games.
