Another day, another perversion of that there all-loving, all-knowing God that Christians love to chitty chat about.

Did you know that all those heathen, non-believer, devil children who had not yet dedicated themselves to Jesus Christ before taking a bullet alongside their Batman are going straight to hell?

If a Christian dies early, if a Christian dies young, it seems tragic, but really it is not tragic because they are going to a wonderful place.. on the other hand, if a person doesn’t know Jesus Christ.. if they knowingly rejected Jesus Christ, then, basically, they are going to a terrible place.

This makes me think. “Wow, what the heck happened to Hell?” What — was there some new revelation that changed what the Lord warned about? To me, what He said 2,000 years ago is still worth heeding: What does it profit you if you gain the whole world and lose your soul?

Tens of millions of young people in this culture seem to have no fear of God. It’s becoming too commonplace that some frustrated person will go on a killing spree of random people. If they kill themselves, they think it’s all over. But that’s like going from the frying pan into the fire. Where’s the fear of God in our society? I don’t think people would do those sorts of things if they truly understood the reality of Hell.

I really feel sorry for Mr Newcombe. Being a delusional bigot isn’t attractive, nor is it an easy path to take to oblivion. Obviously he doesn’t actually read his Bible, for if he had, he would learn that arrogant religious leaders making such statements were condemned by Christ and their destination, ironically, is hell.

This is what has happened to religion. I know not alll christians are like this but too many are HELL BENT on spouting off something hateful. I wonder if he was directing this “loving” message toward the 6 year old girl that was MURDERED? The more they talk about God they make satan look like a angel!

As a Christian, stuff like this pisses me off. It’s always
somebody after something tragic. God’s punishment for (insert offense here).
This generation of Christians (the 20 something’s and younger) realize this and a lot of them
are apologizing for the Church’s past mistakes. Even though his theology is
technically correct, it doesn’t need to be said, and is definitely not
beneficial to any of the families.

I never said I agreed with his theology, I was just saying that, from the Christian perspective he conveyed, it was technically correct. A theological debate, even with a religion you might not agree with, can still convey sound theological points.

Did this man’s action make him look like a dick? Yes. Was this just another bit of icing on an already terrible cake representing the Christian church in America? Yes. Is this how Jesus would’ve acted, or even did act? No.

I apologize for the state of Christianity in the world today. Most people have got it wrong, and build their lives on laws and legalistic values. This isn’t the Christianity from the Bible, and this isn’t how Jesus lived. Again, I’m sorry people are imperfect and make mistakes and say terrible things.
If you’d like to talk about this more, I’m totally up for it, but this thread isn’t the place for it, as it’s a volatile subject and the potential for a flame war is high.

Religion is unscientific. Ya you have faith in “GOD”. I have faith in Unicorns.There are ancient text that say dragons, witches, and fairies, are all real too.
In modern times we have enough common sense in our modern American culture to know these things are not true or do not apply to our modern ways of thinking. The bible in my opinion, is like the examples listed above, its not proven there are people that swear to it but the fact is the hard proof does not exist.

I really wonder what a FEAR based life (“Where’s the fear of God in our society?”) has gotten this fine, obviously very loving man. “Understood the reality of hell”? Seriously. What “reality” of a place MADE UP by Dante (in “Dante’s Inferno” from the 14th century) and added to the Bible afterwards does he know? Perhaps the fires he’s feeling and fearing are just his own judgments and self-hatred burning him up inside.
