Outdoor Sports Store Says RE-I Do to Marriage Equality
With less than three months until Washington State’s general ballot vote on marriage equality, queer people across the state are preparing for what’s pretty much guaranteed to be gay-rights thunderdome.
Marriage equality in Washington has the backing from Northwest companies like Microsoft, Starbucks, and Amazon, and today, outdoor equipment retailer REI threw down the gauntlet to join them.
REI CEO and President Sally Jewell had these nuggets of awesome to share with her employees:
Welcome to the team, REI. Glad to know I can feel good about buying all that camping gear a few weeks ago.
A few notes for all you Bootylicious Booty Readers:
- Register to vote! It might be too late in your respective state for whatever upcoming local election there is, but it’s important. Do it or the universe kills a Unicorn. I swear it’s true and none of us wants that to happen.
- Advocate for yourself. And me. And us. And all the LGBTQ’s. If you’re out and queer, tell those around you how important it is to vote and what issues you need their help on.
- Vote! I really hope this is a no-brainer. But if it’s not, you now have no excuses.
Washington’s election is on Nov. 6. That’s T-minus three months for all of you Washingtonians. Let’s do work.
