Full, Rich, and Creamy: Julia Child Gets Auto-Tuned in Honor of Her 100th Birthday
Today marks the would-be 100th birthday of celebrity chef and gay icon, Julia Child. Why is Julia Child a gay icon, you ask? How many LGBTQ tots can recall vivid memories of afternoons spent transfixed by that voice? Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Julia Child has received the illustrious Auto-Tune treatment, following in the footsteps of fellow PBS favorite Mr. Rogers.
The best part of Julie & Julia was Meryl Streep, so I’m glad Julia (Ms. Child, if you’re nasty) has been given the proper opportunity to shine with this musical masterpiece. Who says PBS is just for kids?
I’m feeling this treatment, but I would like to see PBS update the music a little. The trip-hop fantasy is fun and all, but as Julia said, “Freshness is essential.”
