“Help me, Pat Robertson! My wife is all uppity and crass! She’s become a real problem. What should I dooooo?”

Real talk, when I saw this video popping up all over Facebook today, I thought that surely everyone was massaging old Patty’s words a bit.

But then you watch the video and OOPS, no, Pat Robertson is really telling a man to beat his wife into submission. Twice. And to move to Saudi Arabia if he wishes to avoid the long arm of the American law. I mean, the scripture is very clear on this, you guys!

But how will he get his disrespectful wife to the Middle East for her beating, I wonder?

I find this very disrespectful as a muslim. Islam does not condone men beating their wives. If it did, then the Prophet Muhammad would have done so, but in his case it was the opposite. When one of his wives were angry, she grabbed him by the shirt. That’s the level of tolerance a married man should show towards his wife in Islam and more. What many “Arabs” do is another story, but they shouldn’t tie that to Islam and Muslims as a whole.

That’s a lie, it completely condones it and tells men to force their wives to sleep without their husbands and then if that does not work to beat them… so yes, in fact, it DOES tell you to beat your wives.

There’s good people, there are bad people, and there’s the general mix of both….. you’ll see some of each in all walks of life, including major faiths.

Sabrina- if you identity as Christian, I strongly suggest you re-read Leviticus, particularly when you get to the “picking out stones for their punishment,”

yes, and the buying and selling of slaves in the christian bible has been determined to actually be “metaphorical,” come on… people will rationalize anything before they admit that every single religion on this earth has some things that are just plain messed up, it doesn’t mean the whole religion is but you have to take the good and be willing to admit that the bad is there.

I thought he was kidding the first time he said it, but then he came up with no other solution and even went as far as to suggest it again. Pat Robertson is the one who should be beat for using his position in such a way.
