New Study: Gay Parents are Exactly as Wonderful to Adopted Children as You’d Think
The Atlantic has a fantastic write-up about a new study comparing the well-being and success of children adopted by heterosexual parents with lesbian and gay same-sex parents.
The results conclude that children adopted by gay and lesbian couples face absolutely zero scientific evidence of harm or damage compared with peers adopted by straight couples.
RESULTS: Children in all three types of households benefited from adoption: on average, they made significant gains in cognitive development — their IQ scores increased by an average of 10 points — and they maintained stable levels of behavior problems. What’s more, the kids adopted by gay and lesbian parents actually started out with more risk factors, and were more likely to be of a different ethnicity than their adoptive parents, but after two years were on equal footing with their heterosexually-adopted peers.
In fact, because gay and lesbian adoptive parents are statistically more likely to open their homes to children with disabilities or risk factors, whether economic, health, or otherwise, there is a powerful argument to be made that gay and lesbian parents actually excel as adoptive parents beyond heterosexual couples.
Surely NOM, the FRC, AFA and all of those other hate groups that push the message that children absolutely must grow up in a one father, one mother household OR ELSE will welcome this news, and promptly change their discriminatory, lie-peddling ways.
